The origin of the stone spheres in the Franz Josef Land archipelago is unknown to this day. However, the phenomenon first discovered here in 2001 does not surprise the supporters of a highly developed civilization on the islands in the distant past.
Due to the climate and remoteness, the Russian Arctic territories have been little explored. Much of what exists in these spaces remains a mystery. From the information there is only the data of geographical maps and polar expeditions. The most unexplored is the Franz Josef Land archipelago.
Island phenomenon
Champ Island is located in its central part. Its landscape is no different from the surrounding island territories. Sparse vegetation and severe frosts with winds for six months explain the absence of permanent residents. However, together with the researchers arriving only during the navigation period, tourists increasingly visit the desert place.
Visitors are attracted by giant stone balls. People are in a hurry to make sure with their own eyes of the ideality of the form, which is usually not found in nature. Even pebbles that have been grinded by the sea for centuries rarely become round. Spheres made of stone are very common here.
At first, it was assumed that this was all that remained of the huge structure. But there are no traces of modern processing on the stones, and the area has never been inhabited.
The mystery and its explanation
The mysterious balls were called spherulites. The stones are formed by densely compressed sand of non-volcanic nature. Scientists have found teeth of ancient sharks in some of the balls.
Some giant stones lie on the surface, others seem to be dug in. Most of the spheres are located along the coast. There is not a single spheroid in the center of the land. Stones are constantly destroyed by strong wind, water and low temperatures.
The largest spheres reach a diameter of 2 meters or more, the smallest ones are several centimeters in size. Science has been studying the phenomenon since 2001. Scientists have not found answers as to where such balls come from on Champa. Therefore, the assumptions about new secrets hidden on the island are quite reasonable.
New discoveries
The existence of blocks is fully explained by the Arctic theory. It talks about the opposite of the once existing climate and the presence of a developed civilization. The fragments of the buildings left after it were found at the bottom of the Arctic Ocean.
Once the former mountain peaks, the current islands have preserved individual samples of engineering structures. It is likely that the huge stones were technical system materials. Meanwhile, there is no consensus on the origin and purpose of numerous spheroids.
The unusual balls made Champ one of the most exciting Arctic routes to the territory of the Russian Arctic National Park. The mysterious island attracts many researchers: in the absence of an official theory, everyone can offer their own version of the solution to the phenomenon.
It is possible that there are similar blocks on other islands of the archipelago.
