Fans of arthouse and rare foreign films know that sometimes it is difficult to find a motion picture with a high-quality polyphonic translation. Most often, films that are not in demand by a wide range of viewers are accompanied by a monophonic translation. If the quality of the voice acting does not suit you or it is not at all, watch films with subtitles.

Instructions

Step 1

In most cases, the subtitles that accompany films are adjusted in size and color so as to best fit the picture and stand out from its background. However, sometimes the subtitle settings need to be adjusted for a more comfortable viewing experience, for example when a movie is being shown on a large screen through a projector. As a rule, all modern programs for playing films allow you to change the size of the subtitles.

Step 2

Before watching a movie with subtitles, make sure that the programs on your computer can play the text translation. To do this, you must have the K-Lite Codec Pack or its equivalent installed. When installed on a computer, it will allow video players to display subtitles correctly.

Step 3

You can manage subtitle settings in the video player control panel. If you are watching a movie using Windows Media Player Classic, open the Play section located on the media player's taskbar. In the context menu, find the line "Subtitle settings" and click on it with the left mouse button.

Step 4

In the "Styles" menu, you will see the subtitle settings options. To change the font size, click on the button with the name of the default font. It's in the upper left corner of the settings window. In the “Font” menu that appears, set the required size of letters, their style and color. Subtitle font settings are configured according to the font selection in Microsoft Word. You can choose the style and size of the letters, make them italic or bold. After changing the subtitles to your liking, click on the "Apply" and "OK" buttons to save the changes.

Step 5

After saving the font changes, you will be taken to the main subtitle settings menu. Change the position of the subtitles on the screen, their transparency and brightness. This may be necessary because enlarged or reduced letters will be shown on the screen according to their size. You can choose additional elements by setting the shadow of the letters or the spacing between them. Save the new settings by clicking "OK" with the left mouse button.

Step 6

Play the movie and see how comfortable the subtitle size and position on the screen are now. If you are watching a movie through a projector, check the picture quality on a large screen, not on a computer monitor. If you need to adjust the parameters of watching a movie, change the subtitle settings according to the indicated scheme and save them again.
