The Statue of Liberty is a sign of America and one of the most famous monuments on the continent. The statue has always attracted attention by its height, size, weight, and finally, monumentality. Therefore, the trick with her disappearance, which was done by David Copperfield, still haunts many.

In fact, Copperfield, who made the Statue of Liberty disappear for a few minutes, was only a performer. The trick was invented by the famous constructor of illusions Jim Steinmeier and it was realized only once - by Copperfield. This most famous illusionist trick has been performed before the eyes of many admiring onlookers.

Night

The trick was done at night for a reason. Two towers were erected in front of the Freedom Monument. The statue was brightly illuminated so that even on radars, the mark from it was visible. The monitors of the pulsing radars were shown in large, so that the audience had no doubt that it was they - accurate and impartial instruments - who would be responsible for the presence of the statue on the pedestal, no matter what the magician did.

And then…

On the towers, a white canvas is lifted up, then it is lowered, and the astonished audience sees: the statue has disappeared. The only thing that the observers managed to consider was the lighting left over from the monument. Radars revealed blank monitor screens, and the statue's pulsating mark was also gone. There is no object.

Then the manipulation of matter is repeated, and the statue appears in front of the audience.

Clue

The mystery of the illusion lies in the fact that when the fabric is lifted, at the same moment all the illumination illuminating the monument disappears, and together with it the silhouette of the statue disappears, since there are no other sources of illumination.

The emerging lighting of the empty pedestal is a fake, imitation.

Some, however, have a different point of view. They believe that the famous illusionist achieved the disappearance of the statue not only by turning off the illumination, but also by banal video editing.

Someone thinks that all this is just a hoax. They confirm this by the fact that the video changes the number of lights illuminating the statue, there are eleven of them, although in fact there are ten. The illumination of the crown with bright white lights also plays in favor of this version, although in reality it is illuminated with blue light. And the loud applause of a small group of spectators seems, to put it mildly, unnatural. Which once again confirms that this can only be a production with good acting, masterful use of lighting and video editing.

David Copperfield made his name in history as the creator of the mind-blowing and most celebrated stunt.

In any case, the Statue of Liberty could not disappear from its place, there is no point in arguing about this, because David is not a magician, let alone a great engineer, to move the monument in a short period of time. This illusion glorified his name for many years to come, made the whole world talk about him and his abilities. David Copperfield made his name in history as the creator of the mind-blowing and most celebrated stunt.
