Yanina Zheimo is a Soviet actress, whose eminent biography began to take shape back in the pre-war years. She became widely known for her roles in the films Cinderella, Wake Helen, Two Friends and many others.
Biography
Janina Zheimo was born in 1909 in the town of Volkovysk, now part of Belarus, but previously belonged to Poland. It is not surprising that the famous actress is of Polish origin, and her parents and three sisters were members of a circus troupe. From an early age, Yanina was taught the intricacies of performing in the arena, including staging musical numbers. In 1923, after the death of his father, the family moved to St. Petersburg, where they formed the creative team "Trio Zheimo".
In the northern capital, Janina Zheimo attended acting courses, and her special education was enough to start acting in films. She made her debut in simple films "Bears against Yudenich", "Brother" and "Overcoat". This was followed by more significant roles in the films "Wake Helen!", "Helen and Grapes". The audience fell in love with the miniature actress, and demanded even more films with her. It is not surprising that Zeimo's career flourished during the war and post-war years.
Yanina Zheimo appeared in the war films "Soldiers from the Front Was Walking", "Two Soldiers", "We are from the Urals" and others, becoming a real ray of light and hope for people in a difficult time for the country. But the most memorable was the main role in the film "Cinderella", which was released in 1947. During the same period, the actress starred in the film "Two Friends", which became the last in her film career.
It is believed that the possible reason for Yanina's departure from the cinema was her small stature, a little over 140 cm. Remaining young, she could play the roles of very young girls and even children, but over the years she could no longer compete with taller and more professional actresses. She herself never regretted that the best years of her career were far behind and focused on the family.
Personal life and death
Miniature and cheerful Janina Zheimo turned out to be surprisingly demanding of her chosen one. She could not get along with her first spouse, who became the actor Andrei Kostrichkin, despite the fact that a daughter, named after her mother, was born in the marriage. The actress entered into a second marriage with director Joseph Kheifits. After a while, the couple had a son, Julius, now a well-known operator in Poland. Zheimo and Kheifits broke up after the latter stumbled and cheated on his wife.
The third husband of the famous actress was director Leonid Jeannot, who did not leave her until the very last days of her life. After the end of her career, Janina Zheimo, together with Leonid Jeannot and her son from her second marriage, emigrated to Poland, where she lived a completely happy and calm life until 1987, which was her last. The actress died of a heart attack. By the will of her relatives, she was buried in Russia at the Vostryakovskoye cemetery.
