Biography
Malakhov Mikhail Georgievich was born in the Ryazan region in 1953. in a family of villagers. He was a hardened child. As a preschooler, I didn’t hesitate to ski downhill and swam like a fish. Mother worked as a medical assistant. The father tried to take his son on flights. Mikhail became interested in history early, but under the influence of his mother he became a doctor. To this day, he is proud of the first time he overcame his fear and jumped from a 10-meter tower.
The teenager's self-determination was influenced by his fellow countryman Lavrenty Zagoskin. Mikhail saw the navigator's house in Ryazan many times.
Self-determination
Mikhail Malakhov received his secondary and higher education in Ryazan. In his third year, he organized the work of a tourist club. Young people took part in expeditions very seriously.
Working at the Department of Physical Therapy, he studied the issues of human survival in conditions of low temperatures and maximum loads. M. Malakhov regrets that there was not enough time to summarize the material for his doctoral dissertation. So, as he believes, he did not exert himself much.
Polar Odyssey
Only the names of northern expeditions, including international ones, can take many lines. 1975 is the year when Mikhail Malakhov made his first trip to the North. After analyzing the dates of the expeditions, we can conclude that they were carried out at intervals of 2-3 years. M. Malakhov frankly admitted that the Arctic and Antarctic are his specialties, although such travels are difficult and dangerous. He recalled one case when he got frostbitten in the Polar Urals and even lost part of a finger.
Personal life - gifts of fate
His wife Olga was also born on the Oka, in Elatma. She did not strive in all possible ways to keep her husband - not to let him on the expedition. I understood that my husband always strived to remain himself, wanted to take place as a person.
Mikhail often visits his native village, as he says: “… breathe in the hills…” He always took his growing sons with him to ski.
Both sons - Mikhail and Alexey - are full-fledged and, as the father specifies, are far from weak participants in expeditions. Son-Michael makes films about expeditions. His last work is the documentary "Archipelago", where Mikhail Jr. acts as the second director. The film will be ready by 2020.
He considers his sons a gift of fate and thanks his wife for this. Seeing and feeling that children are following you is the greatest happiness in your personal life.
The youngest son Alexei has a boy - Lavrenty. Grandpa Mikhail lives a dream - to show Alaska to Lawrence. Of course, fifteen years will have to wait. But, as Malakhov Sr. says, this is another reason to "be in shape."
The pride of Russia and the pride of the family
M. Malakhov organized the installation of ten memorial plaques and three memorial signs in honor of the famous, but "half-forgotten" names of researchers. M. Malakhov was awarded the title of Hero of Russia. He has the right to be proud of other numerous Russian and foreign awards both as a person and as a father.
