On November 14, in the new style, several saints are remembered in the Church. The first in the calendar are the names of the holy healers of the unmercenary Cosmas and Damian. The saints were brothers, received a pious upbringing from their holy mother - Theodotia, who is also commemorated on this day in the Church. Upon reaching adulthood, Cosmas and Damian decided to devote themselves to the service of others, through healing. Many people were healed by the brothers, not only through medicine, but also with the help of prayers, performing many miracles of healing. For the provision of medical care, the brothers did not charge a fee, therefore they are called unmercenaries. The saints died in Fereman.

On November 14, the Orthodox Church honors the memory of the holy martyrs John and James, who lived in the 4th century in Persia. Saint John served as a bishop, and Saint James was a presbyter. The righteous suffered martyrdom by beheading the head with a sword by order of King Sapor.

Another martyr who suffered from the beheading of the head (586) is Saint Erminigeld. The memory of this saint is also celebrated on November 14th. This righteous man suffered from his own Arian father, who was the king of the Goths. For confessing the Orthodox faith, his father deprived Yerminigeld of the royal succession to the throne and imprisoned him. In prison, an Arian bishop came to the saint for communion, but Yerminigeld refused to receive communion from the hands of the heretic. For this refusal, the martyr died.

On November 14, the following martyrs are also remembered: Cyriena and Juliana (suffered during the persecution of Christians in the 3rd century), as well as Caesarea, Dasias and five other people with them (they were killed in Damascus in the 7th century).

Among the new martyrs and confessors of Russia on November 14, there are the names of the following saints: Hieromartyrs Alexander Smirnov, Theodor Remizov, Alexander Shalai and Dimitri Ovechkin; as well as the Martyr Elizabeth of Samovskaya and the Martyr Peter Ignatov.
