In Christianity, since ancient times, there has been a tradition of prayer for the living and the dead. Every Orthodox person always has the opportunity to join this church prayer in the church. For this very purpose, a so-called note (or notes) is served in the church for the liturgical commemoration of the living and the dead. But to do everything right, the following church requirements must be considered.
Instructions
Step 1
It is worth submitting notes on commemoration of the living and the dead at the evening service, or if it fails for some reason, early in the morning, before the start of the service.
Step 2
In order to visit a temple or chapel, you need to adjust yourself to the temple dress code, i.e. dress appropriately: in particular, it is considered indecent to enter the temple in shorts or short skirts, in dresses or T-shirts with sleeves that do not cover the shoulders. Also, do not go to church while drunk or dirty.
Step 3
Before entering the church, a man must take off his headdress, and a woman must put something on her head. In a number of monasteries, women and girls in trousers are also often discouraged. However, large pieces of fabric or simple skirts are issued there to cover the legs and waist. But they will not always be, to put it mildly, combined with your image and clothing. So the ideal option is to have a suitable look before visiting a temple or monastery.
Step 4
After entering the temple, cross yourself and bow towards the altar (you can do this three times). Then go to the candle box or to the bookstore. Usually there, on the table, is a pile of memorial "forms" (or just leaves) and writing materials, but just in case, have both of them with you. You need to write the names of those for whom you want to submit a note or notes. In this case, living people are entered in a note with the inscription "For health", the dead - in a note with the inscription "For peace" (if you use ordinary blank leaves, then in them above, in front of the names, you need to draw the indicated inscriptions yourself).
Step 5
In some churches, all the names from the notes are pronounced, in some (especially on major holidays and on Sundays, when there are extremely many notes) - far from all. However, there is no need to worry too much about this. notes with names are still readable. And for the people about whom you submitted notes for commemoration at the proskomedia, particles are removed from the prosphora used for the Sacrament of the Sacrament, the most important sacrament of the Christian Church. So on the part of the clergy, the liturgical remembrance of those whose names you have entered in the notes will be fully accomplished.
Step 6
Simultaneously with the submission of the notes, it is possible and even very welcome to purchase several candles. One or two of them can be placed in candlesticks in the middle of the church, in front of the icon of the holiday and / or the saint that is remembered on that day. In addition, you can put candles in front of the icons of the saints, whose names you and your family and friends bear. It is most convenient to do this before the beginning or after the end of the service.
Step 7
Having submitted a note, it makes sense to stay at the Liturgy (morning service) and pray at the service, as long as you have enough energy and time. In the end, the most effective in life are prayers, inner anxiety, care and love of the closest people to each other. And this, according to Christian beliefs, in particular, can be realized both in liturgical and in personal prayer for their loved ones - both the living and the dead.
