Many people have a literary talent. If you not only feel this gift in yourself, but also wrote a literary work, you have a chance to publish it. To do this, the created text must be correctly formatted and sent to the publisher's email address.
Instructions
Step 1
Most publishers accept texts only in electronic form, in *.doc format - that is, those created in Microsoft Word. The *.doc format is also supported by the OpenOffice program, but it is better to work with the Microsoft Office package.
Step 2
The text must be correctly formatted, you can read about the requirements on the websites of publishers, in the sections for authors. Basic requirements: the text should be on an A4 page, typed in Times New Roman or Courier New, 12 points. Line spacing is single, word hyphenation is disabled, left alignment.
Step 3
You should be aware that the chances of your work being published largely depend on its genre and size. For example, it is almost impossible to publish a collection of stories - unless at your own expense. It is difficult to publish poetry. But if you've written a detective story or a fantasy novel, your chances are higher. Please note that texts of 10 to 15 author's sheets are usually accepted for publication. Even good texts of about 20 author's sheets can be published, but it is better not to exceed the recommended volume of 15 sheets. One author's sheet is equal to 40 thousand characters with spaces in the "Statistics" tab.
Step 4
Together with the sent text, a separate file, you must attach a synopsis - a short, no more than 1-2 pages, description of the plot. In the letter to which you attach the text and synopsis files, write about your proposal - tell the title of the novel, genre, do not forget to include your full name and contact information.
Step 5
After sending the text, you just have to wait. Usually the result becomes known within 2-3 months, sometimes you have to wait longer. In case of refusal, no one will inform you about this, so about once every couple of months, remind about yourself - ask if your text has been reviewed.
Step 6
Can I send text to multiple publishers at the same time? Yes, but if your text is taken from some publisher, be sure to write to all the others to which you sent it, and ask to remove your text from consideration, since it has already been accepted for publication.
