Biography

Evgenia Viktorovna Obraztsova was born in Leningrad on January 18, 1984. Her parents are ballet dancers. Nelly's mother took Zhenya to the theater from seven months. As she got older, Zhenya and her friends ran around the theater and watched the work of artists and costume designers. Then Zhenya had no dream of becoming a ballerina. But there was the first funny debut. With a girlfriend, they took packs of mothers, tried to pull them over themselves, but the suits fell off them. They came up with the idea of putting packs on their heads and walked in the light of the spotlights that illuminated the stage. All this happened during the performance. On stage, the audience saw strange moving shadows, like haystacks. Zhenya's mother had to settle this misunderstanding and explain the pranks of the children of the theater administration. All of Zhenya's childhood was spent at the St. M. P. Mussorgsky, now the Mikhailovsky Theater.

Difficult and incomprehensible time at the ballet school

After the usual 3 years of primary education, I had to decide whether to enter a ballet school or not. Parents strongly urged Zhenya to ballet. She entered the Academy of Russian Ballet. Vaganova.

She graduated from the first grade of school with the lowest mark. Nobody liked it. Zhenya seemed to give no hope and did not want to study ballet. She was tormented by a lack of understanding of what she was doing and why. Once mom and dad started a conversation that she had to be taken from the ballet school, that nothing would come of her. The girl heard this, and then her pride and pride leaped up. She decided to prove to herself and her parents that she is not a "weakling".

She was given to the education of the teacher Tugunov Nikolai Ivanovich. And the tough approach of the teacher helped Zhenya to achieve excellent results. She got the top grade in second grade and tasted good luck and success. I felt that being a leader is better than an outsider. From that moment on, she was hardly pulled away from the machine. She practiced to the point of exhaustion.

Juliet and Ondine

The ballet academy was followed by an invitation to the Mariinsky Theater. In the ballet world they started talking about her seriously in 2002, when Evgenia showed herself in the role of Juliet in Leonid Lavrovsky's play Romeo and Juliet. The audience accepted her with enthusiasm, critics unanimously repeated that they had not seen a more sincere and touching Juliet for a long time.

Her further work at the Mariinsky Theater delighted audiences not only in Russia but also abroad. She toured with the theater in Italy and America.

In 2006 Pierre Lacotte decided to stage the ballet "Ondine" and entrusted the lead role to Evgenia Obraztsova. He said that when he met a ballerina he saw "as if there was light, there is something exceptional in her, she is beautiful, her thoughts are beautiful and she is a real artist, capable of giving her heart to what she does …"

He was not wrong. For the role of "Undine" Eugenia was given the Golden Mask award, and it was a well-deserved award that cost a lot of work. Preparing for the premiere was not easy for Eugenia. On the eve of the premiere, she fell seriously ill with the flu and went to the last rehearsals with a high fever.

Then there was the role of Kitri in Don Quixote, a tour in Japan and a debut in London at the Covent Garden Theater with the image of Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty.

Since 2010, Evgenia has combined two scenes: in St. Petersburg and in Moscow. Work at the Bolshoi Theater took place with S. Yu. Filin. It was nice and comfortable to work with him. There was a certain stagnation in the Mariinsky during this period. Routine - one and the same repertoire - suggested a new step, which happened. She stepped to a higher step. In 2012, E. Obraztsova became the prima of the Bolshoi Theater.

Prima of the Bolshoi Theater

With the receipt of the status of a prima ballerina, responsibility has increased: you cannot make global mistakes, the requirements for yourself increase, you must always be in good shape. You have to deny yourself a lot. For fear of getting sick, Evgenia does not drink anything cold, eats in moderation and practices every morning according to the Knyazev system - "a machine on the floor."

It is not for nothing that the work of ballet dancers is called not work, but service. They officially only have one day off a week. The day begins at the ballet barn. Further, rehearsals, which always take place with the cost of both physical and intellectual strength. With teachers, the artists not only hone ballet technique, but also work on the characters of their heroes as dramatic actors. The ballet role must be played in such a way that the viewer believes in the veracity of what is happening on the stage.

Many roles involve the partnership of heroes. Giselle had Albert. In May 2012, Nikolai Tsiskaridze became Evgenia-Giselle's partner in the production of the play by J. Coralli, J. Perrot and M. Petipa. In his opinion, it was convenient to dance with Eugenia, despite the difference in height. Everything turned out beautifully. Later, he said about Zhenya that she was "an attentive and thoughtful person …"

The sculpture that gave happiness

Evgenia's husband, Andrey Korobtsov, is a sculptor. He became a husband in 2014, and it all started with posing for Eugene for the sculpture "Meeting and Parting". The composition was created for the Paveletsky railway station square. Andrei did not know who Zhenya Obraztsova was and he had vague ideas about ballet. Later he saw her on stage and realized that she was not just a girl, but a gorgeous ballerina girl. He wanted the sculpture to be beautiful, he was worried if Evgenia would like it.

While working on the sculpture, Andrei realized that he was ready to make a marriage proposal. He realized his idea on the day of the performance "Eugene Onegin". After closing the curtain, he came to the dressing room and fell to his knee with an outstretched hand with a ring in a box. After a while, both recall Zhenya's reaction, how she tried to close the box and pushed Andrei's hand away. Evgenia herself explains her outbursts with an explosion of emotions from the performance and from the fact that her hands were shaking with excitement. She was afraid that if she took the ring, it would slip out and roll away. But the ring is okay and tightly flaunts on Evgenia's finger until now.

Double charm

In 2016, two charms appeared in the life of a young couple at once - two daughters Sofia and Anastasia. For a ballerina mother, this is a feat, because there is a certain "prohibition". And from the stories of many famous ballerinas, it can be seen that their dedicated service to ballet robbed them of their families and the happiness of motherhood. Evgenia Obraztsova has a different opinion - she decided for herself that she would not give up motherhood, no matter what it cost her. Nothing can replace family happiness: no ballet, no other art.

Justified all hopes

Once, at the beginning of the journey, Evgenia Obraztsova could not understand whether she was doing her own thing. Perhaps the ballet is not her personal choice, but a repetition of her parent's fate? She so wanted to prove herself and for some reason on the dramatic acting stage. But there was a merger of acting and ballet skills. The actress and the ballerina organically came together in her, this is what led her to such success.

Parents come to Moscow for each performance. They cannot deny themselves such happiness as to see their daughter's performances and understand that ballet has turned from hard labor into flowers.
