Instructions

Step 1

The state has a strictly limited territory over which sovereignty extends. The composition of the state territory includes land and subsoil, internal waters, territorial waters (the waters of the World Ocean adjacent to the land), as well as the air space lying above the waters and land. The spatial limits of states are designated by land and sea borders, along which one country is separated from another.

Step 2

The countries of the world differ in terms of territory (large, medium, small), population size, geographic location (peninsular, insular, inland), natural resource potential, religious and historical characteristics. States have a different form of government (republic, monarchy), administrative-territorial structure (unitary, federal). The island countries include Great Britain, New Zealand, Cuba, Ireland. Peninsular - India, Norway, Portugal, Italy. Inland countries are the majority of countries in the world that do not have water borders. On a territorial basis, the seven largest countries are distinguished - Russia, Canada, China, USA, Brazil, Australia and India.

Step 3

According to the level of socio-economic development, states are classified into developed countries with market economies, countries with economies in transition and developing countries. The former include almost all countries of Western Europe, Canada, USA, Japan, Israel, Australia and New Zealand, South Africa. All these states have a high level of social and economic development. The countries with economies in transition are the states of Eastern Europe, Russia, Albania, China, Vietnam, the former republics of the USSR, Mongolia. Developing countries include most of the countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America. A special subgroup includes oil exporting countries. These are Algeria, Venezuela, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Qatar, Libya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Brunei, Bahrain and others. The indicator of the level of socio-economic development is, first of all, the value of the country's gross domestic product (GDP). Its size expresses the total value of the final goods and services that are produced in the territory of their country. In addition, the level and quality of life are of great importance, which are determined by a set of indicators - life expectancy, level of education, unemployment, consumption of goods and services, and the state of the natural environment.
