Cleaning is necessary for any body of water, regardless of its type, size, location and intensity of pollution. Even the smallest pond or pool, which is located in a summer cottage and is regularly filled with clean water, needs special treatment and disinfection.
If the reservoir is not given due attention, then over time its condition worsens - the banks crumble, unnecessary impurities accumulate in the water, which enter it with sewage and melt water or with precipitation, fungal spores and insect larvae multiply at the bottom of the reservoir in silty sediments. And if the river is at risk of pollution to a lesser extent due to the current, then ponds and lakes without timely cleaning in a short time become unsuitable for swimming, nor for breeding fish, nor for watering gardens and vegetable gardens. In small decorative ponds or pools, which are located at the summer cottage, cleaning can be done on your own. To service large reservoirs, there are special services equipped with appropriate equipment and how they monitor the cleanliness of reservoirs depends not only on the state of a particular lake or bay, but also on the ecology of the planet as a whole.
How is the treatment of reservoirs
Any size of water can be cleaned in one of four ways. Each of them is effective and widespread on the territory of both Russia and the world as a whole.
Small summer cottages can be cleaned with ultraviolet radiation. A sealed chamber with a UV filter is lowered into the reservoir, which generates radiation of certain frequencies, which kills harmful viruses and pathogenic bacteria. The advantages of this method are that no chemical reagents get into the water and human intervention is only in the timely replacement of components and maintenance of the device.
The chemical method of cleaning consists in the work of special reagents placed in water. They not only get rid of unnecessary vegetation in the reservoir, but also saturate it with oxygen, regulate its acidity. Most chemicals do not harm humans or their pets.
For biological treatment, a container with bacteria is used, which feed on organic matter, while simultaneously ridding the water of vegetation and impurities.
The most common method is mechanical water treatment, during which water is passed through filters made of gravel, quartz sand, or a mixture of these. A mechanical filter consists of several stages with different densities, on which unnecessary organic matter, mud, and other contaminants remain. After the procedure, the installation can be rinsed with running water or the filters can be replaced if they are severely clogged.
Signs of water pollution
Clear signs that the reservoir needs cleaning are several factors that are almost impossible to miss.
The first bells are various pollution on the water surface, for example, leaves and branches of trees, pollen and stems of grasses and plants, down of waterfowl.
At the next stage, the water begins to exude an unpleasant odor and becomes covered with a film similar to residual substances of oil products in the form of oily multi-colored spots.
The third, more complex form is the active growth of algae, duckweed. Cleaning of such contaminants can only be carried out mechanically, in several stages.
The fourth, most difficult form of pollution is the release of gases with an unpleasant odor from the bottom of the reservoir. In this case, it is already impossible to cope without the help of specialists and ecologists. The contents of the reservoir must be removed, a layer of silt must be removed from its bottom and disinfected with chemical reagents.
