Going on vacation by the river or on the seaside in summer, as well as when crossing a frozen body of water in winter, you must remember certain rules of behavior. This will help avoid possible danger.
Instructions
Step 1
Do not jump into the water from a running start, it is better to enter gradually in order to prepare the body for a sharp change in temperature. Doctors do not recommend staying in the water for more than 15 minutes. The optimal solution would be to swim for 15 minutes, then spend about the same time on the shore, then swim again, etc.
Step 2
If you have swum far and feel tired, turn around and swim to the shore. According to experts and experienced swimmers, in order to stay on the water, you need to take a full chest of air and hold your breath. Even if you are carried far from where you are on the shore, do not try to resist the current. Better succumb to its influence, gradually paddling to the shore.
Step 3
Remember the elementary safety rules: do not swim to motor boats, do not dive from bridges or breakwaters, do not swim beyond the swimming area, do not stay in a pond under the influence of alcohol. In the water, do not grab the hands or feet of other travelers. If a limb is cramped while swimming, pinch yourself by drinking into the skin with your nails. The painful sensation should be very strong.
Step 4
When crossing an ice-covered body of water, remember that it is dangerous to go out on the ice during a blizzard, rain, fog. Only follow the beaten track or along the trails, and avoid the fishing holes. Do not go out on ice, the thickness of which is less than 12 cm. During the group crossing of the reservoir, keep a distance of about 5 m.
Step 5
Did you hear the characteristic crackling of ice or water appeared? Without lifting your feet, slide towards the shore with sliding movements. If you do fall under water, try to cope with severe panic. To avoid going under water, keep your head as high as possible. Grab the edge of the ice with your elbows, try to pull yourself up on them and throw your foot onto the ice, roll over and pull up your other leg. Call for help and strictly crawl towards the shore.
