Basically, all people are the same. Two arms, two legs, a head … But often one person begins to hate the other, even if he did nothing wrong to him. It also happens that people who have never been seen are hated. There can be many reasons for this behavior. And one of them is nationalism.
There have been wars throughout the history of mankind. They were conducted because of territories, resources, ideas and, of course, because one nation wanted to rise above another. The last reason is probably the strangest and most absurd. After all, each person has their own personal qualities that can be proud of. And to prove to him that he is bad simply because he was born in another country is at least strange.
But, nevertheless, this state of affairs is not uncommon. Yes, a person does not choose where he is born. But for some reason he begins to be proud of his nationality. And sometimes his thoughts flow in the other direction. And he begins to belittle everyone (or many) who were born in other countries. This is how nationalism develops. His ideas can be absorbed with mother's milk, or they can appear at the most venerable age.
Nationalism is a rather vague concept. This word can express love for the homeland, pride in their homeland, devotion to their people. And there seems to be nothing wrong with that. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. To begin with, there are many areas of nationalism. They preach different principles and actions.
And the other side of nationalism is the humiliation of people of other nationalities. This can manifest itself in different ways. Someone simply has a negative attitude towards other countries, someone wants to destroy this or that state, but some are trying to create a world in which there will be only one nationality.
If we take a precise definition, then nationalism is a psychological manifestation of national superiority. This concept includes many good things, but even more bad ones. It's okay to love your homeland. But to say that the others are worse is fundamentally wrong. Moreover, almost every nation considers itself better than others in one way or another. And, of course, forgets that we are all just people who have both good and bad qualities.
Nationalism is a good feeling if left in its infancy. But if it begins to develop, trouble is inevitable. A person should not put himself above others, because he is no different from them. But he does. And this problem has existed for more than one hundred years.
