Biography
Andrey Kotov was born in the city of Sverdlovsk. This happened in April 1963. His mother worked as an accountant at a factory, his father was an excellent locksmith. The husband and wife took Andrey to sambo, to boxing, to the radio circle, to an art school. The family was not against the boy's yachting sport. Here he studied as part of the "Caravel" detachment.
Andrey Kotov finished 8 classes, then entered the editing college.
As a child, he was very fond of playing Indians, like his peers. The child's father helped him make metal arrowheads. But one day it almost ended in failure.
One hooligan offended someone in their yard, Andrei decided to intercede and shot an arrow from a bow at this man. It's good that he missed. The steel tip pierced the downpipe. Then the boy realized how it could end, and since then he has never fired a bow at people - only at fences.
Andrey Kotov recalls that after graduating from college he went to work at the plant. Here he decided to make himself a knife out of strong steel. When only the handle remained to be made, he put the metal blank in his pocket, grabbed five more penknives, which were made at this enterprise.
In this form, the young man went to the dance. Then another mess began, Andrei, along with other guys, was taken to the police before being clarified. When the guards of the law took out the contents of his pockets, they saw how many edged weapons there were.
Andrei, having spent time next to dubious elements in this police station, decided for himself that he would not follow the crooked path. He did not like this criminal world at all.
Music
But Andrei Kotov sang and played the guitar with pleasure. At first, he played music in the courtyard, performing romantic songs popular at that time: "Generals of the Sand Quarries", "Where the Maple Rumbles", melodies by Paul Mauriat.
Andrey had a guitarist friend. Kotov helped this guy enter the music school. The duo of these performers presented the composition on guitar and drums. At the end of the speech, the head of the pop department approached Kotov and asked why he didn’t do it himself. Then Andrei Nikolaevich decided to fill this gap. He was immediately taken to the second year.
But then there was the army, after which he thoroughly forgot what he did not know so well - musical notation, the basics of playing the drums.
Participation in groups
After demobilization Andrei Kotov played in the ensemble "Trek", then for two years he toured with the ensemble "Urfin Jus". In 1990 Andrei Kotov began his career in the Agatha Christie group as a drummer. Here he works until 2008.
This famous musician also had experience of working in the groups "Cabinet" and "PAP".
