The Bright Resurrection of Christ is the main triumph of the Orthodox Christian faith. This is the most significant and solemn church holiday. The memory of Christ's rising from the dead gives hope for the resurrection of absolutely every person.
The feast of Easter in the Orthodox Church calendar is not only highlighted in red. The entire week following the day of the Resurrection of Christ is "red", that is, festive. On these days, fasting on Wednesday and Friday is canceled, and the week itself is called bright (in memory of the bright celebration of the event of the Resurrection of Christ). Every day in Orthodox churches, festive Easter services are held with a procession of the cross, believers are sprinkled with holy water. The Christian is triumphant, his heart is filled with great joy.
It should be noted that even after the end of the light (Easter) week of the celebration, the days dedicated to the Resurrection of Christ do not end. Easter has the longest afterfeast of all church celebrations. It lasts 39 days. On the fortieth day, the Church commemorates the event of the Ascension of Christ.
Holy Scripture mentions that Christ appeared to the apostles for forty days after the resurrection and told them about the Kingdom of God. Therefore, the Orthodox Church celebrates the resurrection of Christ for 39 days, and on the fortieth day celebrates the Ascension.
All Easter time, a Christian can paint and bless eggs, address with the joyful greeting "Christ is Risen" to all relatives and friends, keeping in his heart the great joy of the event of Christ's Resurrection.
