How to recognize a hipster
Initially, hipsters appeared among jazz fans in the forties of the last century in the United States. Wikipedia clarifies: the term came from the expression to be hip, which means "to be in the subject." From here, by the way, went another hippie subculture, almost forgotten today. A hipster can be recognized by his well-groomed appearance, but you should not confuse him with a metrosexual, for whom grooming is the main feature of the style. The hipster brings something of an intellectual's mess to his own style. You can recognize him by his multi-colored striped trousers or, for example, pink sneakers.
Of the main hipster accessories, it is worth noting the moleskin - a leather notebook, wide-rimmed glasses, skinny jeans, an iPhone and a T-shirt with some unusual pattern that emphasizes the independent, creative thinking of its owner.
The desire to stand out and isolate from the crowd makes the hipster listen to indie music of a completely arbitrary style, watch art-house of different quality, read French philosophers at their leisure and know everything about modern gadgets, especially Apple. Often, hipsters show political activity, again of an opposition nature, but they do not go further than political activists on the Internet for fear of prosecution. Hipsters love to gather in fast food establishments for a cup of coffee and speculate about the new Radiohead album.
How hipsters perceive the world
This is not to say that hipsters are driven by any particular political idea, but you certainly will not find Nazis or Stalinists among them. They treat religion with condescending disdain, but they love to talk about the "uncreated light" as described by the Byzantine fathers of the Hesychasts.
Hipsters try not to get carried away with alcohol, but experiment with soft drugs. There are many representatives of creative professions among them: artists, journalists or designers. Also among hipsters there are many hi-tech workers and system administrators. In general, these are people who are completely absorbed in the culture of consumption, those who want to make art out of consumption.
London is a mecca for hipsters, and every correct hipster speaks of this city in admiring expressions and dreams of being there.
To be honest, the new generation of hipsters from 17 to 24 years old is characterized by multiple disorders, including dyslexia - a violation of the ability to read. Also, many hipsters have a cognitive impairment when the thought process atrophies and the ability to think independently is lost. And at the heart of their beautiful, flowery expressions is often the usual emptiness.
