Velta Kalnberzina is the first wife of the famous satirist Mikhail Zadorny, a strong and strict woman who, despite the discord in personal relationships, remained a faithful friend, advisor and support for her ex-husband for the rest of her life in the last, most difficult years of the artist's life.
Biography
Velta was born in 1948, in sunny Jurmala, in the family of a prominent party leader. The post-war child was a real joy for his parents and the daughter received an ancient Latvian name meaning "Gift" - and really became a joy. Serious, greedy for knowledge, diligent and obedient Velta received not only a standard Soviet education, but also at home. In the evenings, it was customary in the family to read aloud classical literature, discuss global topics, discuss history and art.
At school, Velta found herself a best friend - he was Misha Zadornov, a classmate. At first there was no romance between the children, but the parents often joked that they would soon become related. The children became so attached to each other that after leaving school in 1966, they entered a Latvian university together, and after that, again together they went to Moscow to continue their education. The girl entered the Faculty of Philology at Moscow State University and completed her postgraduate studies there. By that time, Velta Kalnberzina had already become the legal wife of her childhood friend, the wedding took place in 1971.

Personal life
In 1971, Velta married Mikhail Zadornov, who was not yet a stage artist, but dreamed of becoming an engineer. But it was she who supported his desire to write, it was his wife who gave the satirist a love of the language and he always consulted with her regarding his performances.
But unfortunately, the couple did not have children, and Mikhail really wanted a child. In the late 80s, Zadornov met at a concert with his longtime fan, Elena Bombina, who became his administrator and assistant, and in 1990 gave birth to the artist's daughter Elena, whom Zadornov gave his last name to.
Velta did not forgive her husband for betrayal and he began to live with his mistress, but did not divorce his wife. They decided everything "amicably" - they divided the property without any scandal and remained in good relations. Moreover, it was Velta Yanovna who looked after Mikhail's elderly parents.
The divorce took place only in 2007, when Zadornova's seventeen-year-old daughter found out that her father was married to another woman. The satirist was literally torn between the two women for the rest of his life. Velta was his love, but Elena gave him a daughter, and both of them are interesting and intelligent women with whom the artist was easy.
In the last years of Zadornov's life, all close people rallied, forgetting past grievances. Velta and Elena have teamed up to support their beloved man.
