Vladimir Lisin was born in 1956 in a simple working-class family in the city of Ivanovo. He spent his usual childhood here and in 1973 entered the Siberian Metallurgical Institute, deciding to study as an engineer. At the age of 19, Vladimir began to earn money as an electrical fitter, and after graduation he got a job as a steelmaker at a local metallurgical plant. He managed to quickly climb the career ladder, taking the post of deputy head of one of the shops.
Gradually, Lisin became interested in scientific research and entered the graduate school of the Kharkov Research Institute.
