Having a strong and friendly family is one of the most important basic psychological needs of a person. After all, few people like to feel lonely. Assessing the importance of the social unit for this very society, the UN General Assembly, as a support for family values, established May 15, 1993 as the International Day of the Family. Since then, this date has been celebrated annually.
Despite the fact that International Family Day is not a day off in national holiday calendars, this does not mean that it is not celebrated. All countries are trying to carry out a popularization policy in relation to the institution of marriage that is losing its relevance. Therefore, on Family Day, you can perfectly arrange a joint vacation, having previously studied the schedule of events.
Quite often, thematic fairs are timed to coincide with May 15. During the event, you can find out what programs are in place for families, what the state can offer to those who have decided to start a family and have children. At the fair, you can easily find a new hobby that is designed to involve all family members. The organizers invite visitors to participate in various master classes, contests and other events that will teach spouses and their children to interact with each other. As a rule, it is the Family Day that the presentation of certificates and awards to large families is timed. Social support agencies are trying to organize activities aimed at supporting low-income families. These include charity concerts, free admission to attractions, exhibitions, theater performances and other cultural events in the city.
Traditionally, every year the Day of the Family is devoted to one or another problem in the development of the institution of marriage - poverty of families, homelessness, issues of relations between parents and children, etc. Within the framework of the approved theme of Family Day, certain events are added annually. So, for example, volunteer teams are organized in orphanages, help the disadvantaged, work with specialists from the guardianship authorities and psychologists.
Another category of events held on International Day of the Family is sports competitions. A prerequisite is participation in such contests and games for the whole family. Either as players and their fans, or as members of the same team.
One of the favorite activities for adults and children is tree planting. Shrubs are planted in alleys, and this very much unites the older and younger generations.
Concerts, festivals, exhibitions of children's drawings - this is not a complete list of what you can visit on Family Day. The organizers see the main purpose of the holiday in showing that the family is the most valuable thing a person has, it must be preserved, appreciated and protected. And nothing will do it better than spending time together and communication.
