The Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) opened on June 21, 2012 at the Oktyabr cinema with a screening of the film “Duhless” by Roman Prygunov. The festival will run until June 30th.
The jury of the main competition is as follows: directors Hector Babenco, Yavor Gyrdev and Sergei Loban; director, screenwriter and actor Jean-Marc Barr; and producer Adriana Chiesa De Palma.
The final version of the main competition of the Moscow International Film Festival-2012 includes 17 films. It is worth noting that there are as many as 3 films of Russian directors - this is "The Gulf Stream under the Iceberg" by Yevgeny Pashkevich, "Horde" by Andrey Proshkin and "The Last Fairy Tale of Rita" by Renata Litvinova.
In addition, the main competition included films "Expiration date" (Fecha de Caducidad) by Kenya Marquez, "The Door" (Az ajtó) by Istvan Szabo, "Apostle" (O Apóstolo) by Fernando Cortiso, "Growing up with the wind" (Routedan dar Bad) Rahbara Ganbari, Tinje Krishnan's Junkhearts and others.
At the closing of the Moscow International Film Festival, Christophe Honoré's melodrama Les bien-amis will be shown.
"Russian Programs of the 34th Moscow International Film Festival" opened on June 22. There were presented such films as "Fan" by Vitaly Melnikov, "Atonement" by Alexander Proshkin, "Kokoko" by Avdotya Smirnova, "Captains" by Gennady Ostrovsky and others.
It is worth noting that the producers of Boris Khlebnikov's film "Until Night Part Part" literally at the last moment withdrew the picture. By the way, this film was supposed to close the "Russian Programs" of the Moscow International Film Festival.

From June 25 to June 27, the festival will host Moscow Business Square, where professionals from the leading film companies of the Old World will take part. The international film forum of the Baltic States, Georgia and the CIS - Eurasia Film Meetings - began its work on 23 June.
The opening site of the film festival has traditionally been the Pushkinskiy cinema, but this year the opening ceremony of the Moscow International Film Festival took place at the October cinema, since it was not possible to agree on the lease of Pushkinskiy. "Russian programs" were held at the House of Cinema, press screenings - at the "Khudozhestvenny" cinema. The new site is the Pioner summer cinema in the Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure.
According to the radio station "Echo of Moscow", director Olga Darfi, participating in the opening ceremony of the Moscow International Film Festival, walked along the path of the film festival wearing the mask of the members of the Pussy Riot group. She did this out of solidarity with the members of the group - as a sign of their support.
