What is meant by the term "driving culture"? This means that a person driving a car observes traffic rules, does not create accidents, and makes sure not to cause inconvenience to other motorists and pedestrians. Alas, this is not always the case in Russian reality.

Where the driving culture comes from

Driving culture is automatically derived from the general culture of a person. Some drivers "reckless", risking unnecessarily, do not give way to other cars (even if they are obliged to do so), behave rudely and aggressively.

In order for driving your own car not to turn into a problem or a source of danger for other people, its owner must comply with generally accepted norms and rules of behavior in society. That is, to take care not only of your own interests, but also of the interests of others, to be polite, not to give vent to emotions. And this directly depends on the level of general culture, education of a person. Unfortunately, it should be admitted that some Russian citizens clearly lack culture and education. If a person in everyday life is rude, selfish and unceremonious, he will behave in the same way, sitting behind the wheel.

The socio-political changes that took place after the collapse of the USSR played an important role in the decline in the general level of culture and upbringing in Russian society. No wonder the last decade of the last century is called the "crazy 90s". Painful shocks experienced by our people, the impoverishment of many millions of people, a sharp decline in morality and ethics, the rapid growth of crime, annoying propaganda that introduced the idea of success at any cost and the cult of money - all this did not pass without leaving a trace. Many people, especially young people, believed that one must be adamant, uncompromising, think only of their own interests, that kindness, politeness, the ability to reckon with others is the lot of losers (losers). Unsurprisingly, they became aggressive, unceremonious drivers.

Unfortunately, some Russians still hold these views.

How to drive

There can be no driving culture without intolerance for offenses. Even an aggressive, selfish and unceremonious person can control himself, follow generally accepted rules for fear of inevitable punishment. However, it is no secret to anyone that the Russian traffic police are one of the most corrupt structures. Often, traffic police officers for a bribe turn a blind eye even to serious offenses by drivers. What kind of inevitability of punishment can we talk about here

In many countries, an attempt to bribe the traffic police with a 100% guarantee will result in a heavy fine for the driver, if not a real prison sentence.

Therefore, no matter how sad it is to realize it, Russian society is still far from a real driving culture.
