In terms of the number of labor migrants from Moldova, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia is one of the leaders. Many people from these countries come to our country to earn extra money thanks to higher salaries, and the accompanying reasons are the absence of visas and language barriers.
Why Russia?
According to official data, only 240 thousand Moldovans work in Russia. In reality, this figure is at least twice as much (due to illegal immigrants). Meanwhile, in the home countries of immigrants, the labor market is by no means empty. It is really possible to find a job, local entrepreneurs are actively looking for specialists and cannot find them. While professionals of all stripes go to Russia en masse to work, and most often they get jobs in low-skilled jobs. In countries such as Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, a generation of “children of migrant workers” has already grown up.
Of course, on Russia and Moscow alone, the light did not converge like a wedge. Labor migration to the EU countries has also been popular for a long time. It was because the EU began to take certain measures. After the crisis, it became easier for a foreigner to survive in Russia than in Europe.
Legislation has become stricter, salaries have been reduced. In addition, it is easier for Russia to draw up documents to enter the country. A visa is required for Norway or the UK. Russia has a visa-free regime for Ukraine, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan.
Another good reason is the language barrier. In Europe, without knowing at least the notorious English in any way. As for Moldova and Ukraine, the population of these countries, as a rule, is familiar with the Russian language firsthand, and in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, echoes of the disintegrated USSR still sound. So almost all migrants speak Russian to one degree or another, which facilitates adaptation.
The easiest way to find work and housing in Russia, of course, is for immigrants with a Slavic appearance - Belarusians, Ukrainians and Moldovans. Uzbeks, Tajiks and Kyrgyz are treated with prejudice. However, over the long years of labor migration in Russia, peculiar diasporas have formed, which greatly facilitate the life of their compatriots.
Who do migrants work
Mostly women leave for European countries in order to earn extra money. In Russia, on the contrary, the majority of guest workers are representatives of the stronger sex. And this is quite natural, since it is for the "male" professions, which require strength and endurance, the demand in our country is greater. Ukrainians, Belarusians, Uzbeks, Tajiks, Moldovans find jobs as drivers, loaders, builders, auxiliary workers and so on without any problems. In most cases, the job does not require special training.
Of course, there are similar vacancies in the homeland of migrant workers, but the pay is completely different. For example, the minimum wage in Moldova is approximately US $ 5.
