Rescuing yourself and your loved ones in a fire is a top priority in an emergency. Therefore, try to protect yourself already at the stage when there is no threat yet. That is, when entering any building, especially a high-rise one, remember the location of the entrance-exit, stairs, and your route. If it is a public place, a shopping center or an office center, look around and fix in your head where the fire safety corners are located.

Instructions

Step 1

Hearing the cry "Fire!" or if you smell smoke, and even more so when you see a flame, immediately call the rescue service by phone 01. From any mobile phone (including without a SIM card and with a zero balance), you can call the Emergencies Ministry by calling 112.

Step 2

If the smoke is not strong, you can breathe, try to determine the source of combustion - an apartment, a garbage can, etc. If you find a focus, you can try to extinguish it yourself. Assess your capabilities and strengths. For example, if smoke comes out of the cracks in the door of an apartment and calls for help are heard without waiting for the firemen, try to knock down the doors.

Step 3

When there is no way to extinguish the fire, notify the residents of the danger in any way possible. Don't panic. Try to get out of the building and help others do it, use the staircases and fire escapes of the balconies. In too smoky areas, hold your breath, covering your mouth and nose with a damp handkerchief. If you squat down or lie on the floor, there will be more air for breathing.

Step 4

Remember, flames and smoke on the stairwell of high-rise buildings spread only in one direction - up. Therefore, if you go out into the entrance of an apartment building or into the corridor of an office space, you find yourself in thick smoke, immediately return to the apartment or office and close the door tightly. Cover slots, ventilation openings with wet rags to prevent the penetration of smoke. It is not recommended to open wide windows - this will create traction and increase the fire. However, you can go out to the balcony, tightly closing the door behind you, and by all means attract attention to yourself.

Step 5

Remain calm, reason with screaming and fearful people. After assessing the situation, start moving towards the exit without panic. Once in the crowd, skip ahead of children and women. Support the elderly by the arm.

Step 6

Do not enter a room or corridor with a high concentration of smoke. In the construction and renovation of modern buildings, a large amount of plastic and synthetics is used. When they burn, they release toxic substances, a few breaths of which will lead to inevitable poisoning and death.

Step 7

Never try to descend from upper floors along an outer wall, downpipes, risers, or using twisted sheets and ropes - a fall without a lack of special skills is most often inevitable. Jumping from a skyscraper window, starting from the 3rd floor, is no less dangerous. It can be fatal. If the jump cannot be avoided, try to reduce its height by landing on a car roof, shed, or flower garden. To cushion your fall and stay alive, throw down mattresses, blankets, pillows, or carpets.
