Mikhail Yurievich Lermontov was born on October 15, 1814 in Moscow. The future poet spent his childhood in Tarkhany, Penza region, and his teenage years were spent in Moscow. M. Yu. Lermontov loved Moscow and dedicated more than one poem to it.
Anyone who is interested in the work of M. Yu. Lermontov, you have probably heard about Tarkhany - a village in the Penza region. Today this village is called Lermontovo. In Tarkhany, in the estate of the grandmother Elizaveta Alekseevna Arsenyeva, the future poet spent his childhood. However, Mikhail Yuryevich was born not in Tarkhany, as they sometimes think, but in Moscow.
The first years of Lermontov's life
The parents of M. Yu. Lermontov, immediately after the wedding, lived in Tarkhany. Maria Mikhailovna, the mother of the future poet, was very young and in poor health. Therefore, at the family council, it was decided to go to Moscow before giving birth. Only in a big city could one count on qualified medical assistance.
The future parents settled in Moscow at the Red Gate, in the house of Major General F. N. Tolya. It was there that Mikhail Yuryevich was born. It happened on October 15 (October 3, old style), 1814.
However, the young family did not live long in the capital. In 1815 the Lermontovs moved back to Tarkhany.
The poet's childhood years cannot be called happy. Mikhail Yuryevich was not even two years old when his mother died. Grandmother and father did not get along with each other. Elizaveta Alekseevna insisted that her father, Yuri Petrovich, transfer the boy to her upbringing. The father did not have enough funds to support the child, while the grandmother could provide her grandson with an excellent upbringing and education. Indeed, M. Yu. Lermontov received an excellent education at home.
Until 1827, Mikhail Yurievich lived in Tarkhany. But I had to study at the Noble University Boarding School, and then at the university. Therefore, I had to move to Moscow.
