We live in a democratic society in which every voice counts. The time-honored way to get heard is to petition and collect signatures from people who agree with you.
Petition and the Internet
A petition is a petition, a written request to the authorities, from a group of people or one person. The more people participate in such a request, the greater its weight in the eyes of society and the state. There are provisions according to which a petition is considered at the state level if it has collected a certain number of signatures. So, in the UK, only two hundred citizens are required to sign a petition - and it will be considered by public services. However, in order for the petition to reach parliament, much more signatures are needed.
The most effective way to tell the whole world about yourself and your petition is the Internet. Using “friends of friends”, open resources that are visited by many people every day and special platforms for placing petitions, you can collect the required number of signatures in a fairly short time.
In order for the online petition to be considered by the Russian authorities, it must collect at least 100,000 signatures from authorized users. The figure sounds menacing, but in reality, petitions touching on topical and important topics for the country, collected all the necessary signatures.
An online petition is a legal way to communicate with the authorities, an opportunity to convey your own proposals to high officials without leaving your own home. The Internet erases the distance: with its help, both a resident of Moscow and a resident of Vladivostok can have their say - the audience coverage will be equally wide.
It is worth noting that the petition that has collected signatures is considered by the authorities without fail, but the request set out in it will not necessarily be executed. Whether the petition is rejected or accepted is up to the state.
How it works
Let's say you have a really great idea that can change your life and the lives of people around you for the better, socially useful and unique in its own way. Think about who might be as interested in its implementation as you need it.
Look at the petition sites. They differ in the possibilities of promoting the petition, in the columns that you will fill in when placing it, in clarity. Some venues may support your petition after it has been submitted for review.
Compose the text of the petition, taking into account all the requirements of the site on which you post it. Naturally, your petition should not contain anything illegal. Then, when the text has passed moderation and published, it's time to connect family and friends: send the link to your friends, tell about yourself and your petition on large portals and in small thematic communities - let people know about you.
Sometimes even an unsuccessful petition grows into a real social movement. Just remember: water wears away a stone.
