What is personality? Often this concept is identified with the concept of "person". However, this is not true. After all, a newborn baby with only a set of innate reflexes is not yet a full-fledged personality. And an adult whose mind is darkened due to mental illness cannot be considered a person in the full sense of the word.
Man is an integral part of society
Under the definition of "personality" is understood, first of all, a reasonable person who is aware of his words and actions and is able to take responsibility for his behavior.
By nature, man is a social being. From an early age, he is surrounded by other people. Parents who raise and educate a child teach him to speak, write, use cutlery, dress, play, sculpt, paint. They tell him how to behave, explain what is good and what is bad. As they grow up, the child communicates with other children and adults - on walks, in kindergarten, school. And, regardless of his desire, he becomes a part of society, takes part in a complex system of social relations. This continues throughout his entire future life.
There are only extremely rare exceptions to this rule, when people who do not want to be in society become hermits, begin to live in secluded, inaccessible places.
How does a person's environment affect the formation of his personality
The child, first of all, takes an example from the closest people - the father and mother, and in their absence from the guardians. He carefully looks at their behavior, listens to what and how they talk, gradually begins to adopt their value system, their views, habits, and behavior. Of course, other close relatives can also have a great influence on a child, as well as adults who, although they are not blood relatives with his parents, but often communicate with them, are in the house. In other words, in the formation of a person's personality, his social circle plays a huge role.
Numerous proverbs and sayings speak about this, for example: "An apple falls not far from an apple tree", "Whoever leads you - from that you will pick up."
Of course, there are exceptions. There are known examples when a child who grew up surrounded by greedy and heartless selfish money-grubbingers became a kind and generous person. Or the offspring of worthy parents who taught him only good things, walked along a "crooked path", became a criminal or an immoral person.
A person's personality can also be formed under the influence of teachers, military commanders, senior comrades. A very important role is also played by a person's worldview, the goals that he has set for himself in life. Especially if he is noted for great abilities, talent in one area or another.
