Dagestanis and Chechens have a lot in common, for example, a single religion. But these two fraternal peoples also have disagreements, some of which have historical roots.
It is interesting to know how Dagestanis and Chechens relate to each other. It is believed that these are fraternal peoples, so there can be no friction between them, but not everything is so simple.
Friendly peoples
If you take the average Dagestani and Chechen, who have no personal and historical dislike, then their relationship is good. After all, both in Dagestan and in Chechnya there is one faith, which is called Suni Islam. If we recall history, then this religion came to Chechnya together with Kumyk preachers and it was from Dagestan.
Of course, the commonality of religion has a positive effect on how Dagestanis relate to Chechens.
These two peoples also fought together under the leadership of Shamil in the North Caucasus against the king.
Chechen leader R. Kadyrov favors an athlete from Dagistan, Khabib Nurmagomedov. And Khabib, along with his father, is a frequent guest of the president of this country.
Disagreements
But not all Dagestanis are without prejudice towards Chechens. In 1999, the troops of Khattab and Basayev attacked Dagestan. Then the representatives of this country became militias to protect their families and lands from the advancing terrorists. Some villagers did not even spare their homes, just to prevent the bandits from going deep into the country.
There is a large ethnic group in Chechnya - the Akkin Chechens. During the Great Patriotic War, they were forcibly expelled to Kazakhstan, here people were landed among the bare steppes. Many died. And the Akin Chechens were forcibly resettled to their homelands, Avars and Laks. Therefore, even now, sometimes litigations break out that raise the insoluble question of the original place of residence.
How to find common ground
If Chechens are representatives of one nation, then Dagestanis are Dargins, Avars, Laks, Rutuls, Lezgins, and Kumyks. And this is not all the nationalities that are usually called Dagestanis.
Previously, Dagestanis spoke with Chechens in the Kumyk language. This was before the beginning of the twentieth century. And Imam Shamil, an Avar by nationality, knew the Chechen language perfectly.
Now representatives of these two major nationalities mostly talk to each other in Russian in order to understand each other.
At present, representatives of Dagestan live in Chechnya - Kumyks, Avars. And in the Chechen Republic, the days of Kumyk culture are periodically held. And the Chechens go on vacation to Dagestan. Here you can legally buy strong drinks, while in Chechnya it is very problematic. After all, alcohol is not encouraged here.
And Chechens spend the summer vacationing in the Dagestan part of the Caspian Sea.
And since these representatives of the two countries have one religion, they say that they are sisters and brothers in faith, which, of course, unites these peoples.
