Biography

Roman Valerievich Zlotnikov was born into a family of builders of communism in one of the secret Soviet scientific towns of Arzamas-16, b. May 13, 1963. Later the city was renamed Sarov. His parents, like other local residents, took part in the development of nuclear weapons, but in 1966 they moved to Obninsk.

Here the formation of the future science fiction writer began. Intelligent parents sent the boy to an art and music school, he attended all kinds of sections and circles. However, this was not the development of any specific talents, it was just that the mother and father wanted to give the child a versatile education. The famous writer began reading from early childhood, and, by his own confession, spent a fortune on books during his life.

Closer to the end of school, Roman began to skip lessons and neglect the instructions of his parents. And those, tired of the stubborn headstrong son, gave his upbringing to the hands of a stern front-line grandfather. And he indisputably announced that he wanted to see his grandson as an officer. And in 1980, the naughty teenager became a student at the Saratov Military School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Career

Having worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs troops for the prescribed period, Roman Zlotnikov in 1992 transferred to the Institute for Advanced Studies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he taught the basics of fire contact, the psychology of the crowd and conflict, taught the recruits to shoot, took an active part in many thematic scientific conferences and published serious works. This invaluable experience was later reflected in his novels.

Zlotnikov took his first timid step as a writer by publishing a feuilleton in the military magazine "On the Fighting Post", and then, in 1998, his debut novel "Swords over the Stars" was published - a stunning epic about a future in which mankind will have to face an incredible Enemy.

By 2011, the circulation of Zlotnikov's books exceeded the wildest expectations of his publishers. The writer has a variety of fiction in many genres. Here there is an alternative history, and narratives about the "hitmen", and the large-scale utopia "Empire", recommended for study in pedagogical, economic and legal universities of Russia, and the so-called Orthodox fiction (the formation of this subgenre is attributed to Zlotnikov himself), and quite fantasy orcs with elves …

In a word, the author, who retired in 2004 and completely immersed himself in his favorite literature, has books for every taste, and each of them is worth the time spent on a book. Many of the writer's publications have received various literary awards.

Personal life

The writer is married and has two children - daughter Olga, who was born in 1987 and son Ivan, born in 1993. The writer and his family love to spend their summer holidays in Greece, where they have a small house by the sea. But Zlotnikov never forgets how his homeland lives, and claims that he will always live only in Russia.
