Ilya Maddison is a popular video blogger who shoots comedy reviews of computer games. His videos have been published on various Internet resources for over 10 years, which makes him one of the pioneers of the genre.
Biography
Ilya Maddison (in life - Ilya Davydov) was born in 1988 in the capital of Latvia Riga and was brought up in a simple family. At the age of seven, the future video blogger with his parents moved to Moscow, settling in the Mitino area. From childhood, Ilya was fond of football and computer games. Soon I had to "quit" with sports: the teenager received a leg injury. From that moment on, he began to disappear even more in the virtual world, which negatively affected his studies.
After school, Davydov entered the RSSU at the Faculty of Journalism, but in the third year he was expelled for academic failure: the same computer games played the main role. But Ilya was not upset at all and decided to quit with higher education. Inspired by the Western blogger AVGN, in 2008 he began filming humorous reviews of dubious video games. Davydov posted his videos under the nickname Maddyson on the Russian-language hosting Rutube. The guy had a subtle sense of humor and skillfully presented his thoughts, and therefore the videos quickly became popular.
For some time, Madison worked in television as the host of the show "Games To Go", broadcast on the channel "TNT", while continuing to conquer the Internet. In 2009, he even received the Runet Hero Award, and the Rutube portal appointed him the head of the computer games division. Ilya held this position for two years.
In 2011, Maddison registered the MaddysonShow and Maddyblog channels on the video hosting YouTube, due to its growing popularity and the emergence of convenient ways to monetize content. For three years, he has been actively posting the usual game reviews on them, increasing the number of his subscribers to several million. Often, Maddison participated in the filming of videos on the sea otters of other bloggers, for example, Yuri Khovansky, Ruslan Usachev and others.
In 2013, Ilya decided to leave YouTube in favor of the newfangled streaming service Twitch. On it, for the most part, Maddison broadcasts live during the passage of various games and comments on them in the usual comedic form. The streamer's income comes from paid subscriptions and sponsored transfers from fans (the so-called "donations").
Personal life
Ilya Maddison was never married, but from 2011 to 2017 he lived with his common-law wife Ksenia, nicknamed Bore. The girl was his longtime fan, and after meeting the young people realized that they had found each other. Ksenia is also a video blogger and streamer, but her popularity is noticeably lower compared to Maddison. The separation of the couple happened unexpectedly, and this could well be affected by unpleasant changes in Davydov's life.
In 2017, the blogger was accused of racist statements against Muslims, sounded in one of the videos. The prosecutor's office of Chechnya immediately opened a criminal case, and as a result, Maddison was sentenced to 1.5 years of probation. He also had to leave the country for some time, under pressure from Eastern radicals. At the moment, the conflict has already been completely settled, and the blogger continues to work on the Twitch service.
