Difficult childhood

The practice of recent decades convincingly testifies that human civilization has come into conflict with the surrounding nature. Many experts predicted the emergence of such a situation as early as the 19th century. Among the experts is the famous architect Frank Wright, who was born on June 8, 1867 into a typical American family. Parents at that time lived in the town of Richland Center. My father served as a pastor in a local Protestant church. Mother worked as a teacher in a church school. At an early age, the child spent a lot of time in classes with the children's designer "Kindergarten".

Wright received his primary education at home. In 1885, he successfully passed the entrance exams and became an engineering student at the famous University of Wisconsin. By this moment, unpleasant events had taken place in the house. The father left home and left his wife and children to fend for themselves. Frank had to take care of his mother and two sisters on his not yet strong shoulders. He tried to combine training and earnings on the side. Two years later, without receiving a diploma, he moved to Chicago and entered the studio of the famous architect Louis Sullivan.

Professional activity

Over the next six years, Wright worked hard and gained experience. Already at the first stage of his activity, he formulated the basic principles of his approach to the design of residential buildings. After some time, this approach was named "Prairie Style". The characteristic elements of this style are a low-rise building, a flat roof, and the absence of basements and attics. Already in the middle of the twentieth century, Soviet journalists were surprised to inform their readers that "one-story America" is very similar to the Russian villages.

But it took some time for the original Prairie Style to gain acceptance among the average American. Only after dozens and then hundreds of houses built according to Wright's projects appeared in different states, the demand for such housing took an avalanche-like character. Frank had to establish his own design company. It should be emphasized that housing built according to new approaches was distinguished by high comfort, pragmatism and affordable cost. The average American citizen could buy or build his house on a plot of land by accumulating the required amount of dollars in one year.

Recognition and privacy

Engaged in architectural creativity, Wright, unexpectedly for himself and those around him, formulated the most important urban planning principle. He proposed to abandon skyscrapers and build cities on large areas. This approach has been successfully used on flat landscapes.

A sentimental novel can be written about the personal life of a brilliant architect. Frank was legally married three times. The last time he married Olga Ivanovna Ginzenberg. The husband and wife are buried in the same grave.
