Each appearance of the group on the stage was an unusual and vivid mystical show. Even the breaks between compositions were absent as such, the pauses were filled with various noises and sounds. The band's performance was also accompanied by an elaborate and staged light show. In the same year, the first clip of the Midnight group was shot and edited.

In 1988, the group suddenly broke up for everyone. The reason was an internal conflict between Krupnov and one of the group's technicians. After that, Anatoly sets off on a free voyage and joins the thrash metal band Shah. Two years spent in the new band were not in vain, the group recorded the album Beware in Munich, after which they went on a tour of Germany. Returning to his homeland, Krupnov announced that he would soon leave the group, but first he found a replacement for himself and taught everything necessary.

Saying goodbye to Shah, Krupnov announced the revival of the Black Obelisk. At the end of the Soviet Union, Obelisk finally recorded an official album called The Wall. The group is becoming popular again, new videos are being shot, continuous live performances and new albums are not long in coming.
