James Root is a musician, guitarist of the world famous American nu-metal band Slipknot, songwriter and lead musicians. Former guitarist of the metal band Stone Sour.
Biography
James Root (full name James Donald Root) - famous American musician, guitarist of the famous band Slipknot - was born on October 2, 1971 in the state of Nevada in Las Vegas. According to him, as a child, he was left to himself, his parents constantly worked and practically did not engage in his upbringing. He took role models only from peers who surrounded him and friends. Since childhood, James gravitated towards the music genre in the style of Metal, his favorite musical groups were and remain to this day Iron Maiden and Metallica.
Root got his first guitar at the age of 13. The parents bought it as a Christmas present for their son. It was a Memphis guitar. James Root is an ambidexter - he writes fluently with both his left and right hands, and plays the guitar with his right.
Career
In the early 90s, James joined the thrash metal band Atomic Opera from Iowa (not to be confused with the hard rock band Atomic Opera from Houston, Texas) and worked there for about 5 years. After that, he moved to the Dead Front and Stone Sour groups. In parallel with performances and rehearsals in groups, Ruth worked as a screenwriter, waiter, and assistant waiter. In 1999, he was invited to the Slipknot group to replace Josh Brainard. Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor invited George to join the band based on Taylor's past experiences with him at Stone Sour.
Although from 1999 to 2010, Ruth was the last member to join the group during this time, he is considered one of the main songwriters of the group, who have made a great contribution to its development. He also wrote the lead guitar parts for later Slipknot albums.
On May 17, 2014, Stone Sour released an official announcement that James is no longer a member of the group. And a few moments before their announcement, Ruth told a fan on Instagram about his departure, explaining that this was not his decision and he was saddened by this event.
In subsequent interviews, Ruth accused Stone Sour of pursuing a more commercial musical direction, but also noted that he "would no longer be happy with this group." Corey Taylor noted that Root's departure from Stone Sour left an imprint on his relationship with James, which, however, was fixed by creating new material for Slipknot.
Personal life
For thirteen years, James Root met with the vocalist of the Italian gothic metal band Lacuna Coil - Christina Adriana Chiara Scabbia.
Their romance began in 2004, but ended in nothing - they never became an official husband and wife. In 2017, the couple broke up. Christina wrote about this on her official page on the social network Facebook, and then on Instagram.
