Baptism is an Orthodox sacrament, when a person is, as it were, reborn anew for a pure life with faith and God in his soul. The baptism of a child is a doubly touching and bright holiday, and all the relatives and friends of the baby want to take part in it. In this case, you should consider the christening of the child in advance and decide how you will conduct them.

Instructions

Step 1

Go to the church where you plan to baptize your baby, and discuss with the priest all the details of the upcoming baptism: when is the best time to spend, what to take with you, how to dress. It is better if you do this one or two weeks before the holiday in order to have time to prepare everything in advance.

Step 2

Choose godparents for your little one. They can be relatives or friends with whom you have been friends for a long time, often see and communicate. After becoming godparents, they undertake the obligation to help the child gain faith, become kind, just and honest. Please note that a married couple cannot be godparents of one child, because in this case they become a spiritual brother and sister, and marriage between relatives is prohibited. Godmothers should also go to church in advance to purchase the necessary attributes for baptism (a cross, a towel, an icon) and learn how to prepare for the sacrament.

Step 3

As a rule, only close relatives and godparents of the child are invited to the ceremony itself in the church. Perhaps someone wants to take pictures of the christening moments - also agree about this with the priest in advance. The rest of those wishing to be close to the baby on such a significant day can be invited home for a festive dinner.

Step 4

Decorate the room in which you will receive guests: put white, pink or blue balloons under the ceiling (depending on the gender of your child), put angel figures on the bedside tables or cut them out of paper, hang air tulle not only on the window, but also at the entrance into the room, securing it in several parts in the form of an arch. White roses and candles will be a great addition.

Step 5

You can prepare a festive dinner of your own accord, however, on the days of fasting, it should be mainly meatless dishes. According to an old custom, sweet porridge is also put on the table, and all those invited should eat a spoonful, as if wishing the baby not only to grow healthy, but also to be strong in spirit. Since christening is a religious holiday, give up alcohol or limit yourself to light red wine. Order in advance an angel cake from the confectionery departments or buy angel-shaped candies that you can hand at the entrance to each guest. You can also give each guest a small postcard with the words of gratitude that they were next to your family on this significant day.

Step 6

If you want to play around the festive table, pick up fun games and fun that will allow guests to return to childhood and delight them. You can divide everyone present into two teams, the captain of the first can be the godfather, and the captain of the second - the godmother. Prepare joke questions about parenting or swaddling and painting speed contests. Or maybe you will sing together your favorite hits from childhood in karaoke. In addition, you can arrange a comic win-win lottery: sell lottery tickets for a symbolic price, and hand over nipples, sweets, small cars or dolls during the drawing.

Step 7

The most important thing is that on the day of the christening in the house there is no abuse and disputes, so that everyone has joy and happiness in their souls.
