The most famous biathlete in the world. Olympic champion, multiple winner of international cup competitions. French "musketeer" Martin Fourcade has conquered all possible sports heights. But he is not going to stop there.
From the biography of Martin Fourcade
Martin Fourcade was born on September 14, 1988 in the small French town of Ceret, which is located in the foothills of the Pyrenees. He is the middle child in the family. Martin has two brothers. The elder Simon achieved significant success in biathlon, although it became more difficult for him to compete with Martin every year.
The family has always had an atmosphere of love and respect for sports. And this is not surprising - Martin's father worked as a winter sports coach for many years. Parents encouraged boys to go in for sports, tried to instill in them an interest in sports.
Martin did not come to biathlon right away. At first, he was actively involved in hockey and snowboarding. But I have always loved skiing. The matured Simon, the elder brother of the future champion, became interested in biathlon. And Martin joined his brother when he reached the age of 14. Family traditions played a decisive role in Fourcade's sports biography.
Fourcade's sports career
The novice biathlete was admitted to the national team in 2006. At that time he was not yet sure of himself. However, already in 2007, Martin won a bronze medal at the World Junior Championships. The victory inspired the biathlete, although he still had to work a lot on the way to the upcoming glory.
The sports community took a close look at Fourcade in 2010 when he won third place at the World Cup. And two years later, Martin won two prestigious biathlon awards at once: two Crystal Globes. In subsequent years, such awards became something familiar for Fourcade and his fans and did not cause amazement.
In 2014, the French athlete inscribed his name in the history of the Olympic Games. He took "gold" in two types of competitions at once: in the individual race and the prestigious pursuit race.
The next season was no less successful for Fourcade. Five gold cup medals and one more Crystal Globe replenished the champion's piggy bank. Each new season brings Fourcade consistent success. As the # 1 biathlete, he almost never gives his competitors a chance and rarely stays outside the podium.
Biathlon connoisseurs and experts invariably note the steady growth of the athlete's skill. He is distinguished by impeccable skiing technique, excellent mastery of tactical techniques, and stable shooting. All this became possible not only because of Fourcade's natural inclinations: Martin is distinguished by amazing perseverance in achieving his goals and incredible hard work.
Personal life of Martin Fourcade
The French champion is extremely reluctant to share the events of his personal life with other people. Those who know him well find him amorous and very emotional. They say that in his youth, Martin, because of a fiery passion for the girl, almost quit playing sports. No one knows why Fourcade ended up staying in biathlon, but luckily for his army of fans, he changed his mind at the last moment.
For several years now, Martin has been in a civil marriage. His chosen one was a young school teacher named Helene. In an interview, he proudly calls her his wife, although young people are in no hurry to conclude an official marriage. Helene always supports Martin, helps in preparing for important starts and is passionately rooting for her beloved.
In September 2015, daughter Manon was born to the Fourcade family. Relatives and friends note that she is like two peas in a pod like her dad. In March 2017, Martin once again became a father. His second daughter was named Iness. Martin loves his daughters and is waiting for the moment when they can be taken with him to sports competitions.
