The future actress was born in Leningrad on September 16, 1937. Svetlana's parents were specialist historians. The girl had priests in her family. The brother of his father, who had the dignity of a priest, was repressed in 1937.

Alexey Karpinsky met Sveta's future mother when he was studying at the pedagogical institute. During the years of evacuation, my mother worked as a director in an ordinary school. Father fought with the Nazis on the outskirts of besieged Leningrad, was wounded, after which he remained slightly lame. Svetlana's childhood years were spent in a typical St. Petersburg communal apartment.

After a serious success in cinema, Karpinskaya, without further ado, was immediately enrolled in the 2nd year of the Institute of Theater, Music and Cinema, located in Leningrad. The young actress was trained in the class of Boris Zon, an experienced teacher.
