Matt Dillon is an American actor whose talent has been repeatedly recognized by renowned American critics and directors. Currently, he acts exclusively in films, which are usually called "highly artistic".
Biography
Matt Dillon was born in 1964 in the American city of New Rochelle, located in the state of New York. The family was large, and the younger generation consisted of five sons and one daughter. From childhood, Matt suffered from a lack of parental attention, so he preferred to spend time on the street. He began earning money on his own early, trying on the professions of a loader and a newspaper peddler. At the age of 15, the boy was noticed by director Jonathan Kaplan and offered to star in his next film. So Matt actually played himself in the film "Over the Edge", dedicated to the problems of adolescent street children.
The next and rather similar role came to the aspiring actor in 1983, when he starred in the film "Outcasts" directed by Francis Coppola. Tom Cruise and Patrick Swayze played with him in the film. The third film was "Rattling Fish", after which Dillon has already become well recognized by the audience. This was followed by another memorable role in the films "Pharmacy Cowboy" and "Everybody's Crazy About Mary", for which the actor received several international film awards.
Matt Dillon treated the filming process with full dedication and tried to accept only those roles that he considered suitable for himself. In this regard, the time gaps between films were growing. Another picture called "Collision" was released in 2005. For the role of a racist policeman, the actor was nominated for an Oscar and several other awards, but never won any of them. From time to time, Matt took a break from dramatic roles, starring in comedies, including "Him, Me and His Friends", "So-So Vacation", "Leave Nicely" and others.
Often, films with Matt Dillon's participation turn out to be quite resonant. Among them are the detective thriller with an erotic bias "Wildness", as well as one of the recent works - the drama with horror elements "The House That Jack Built", filmed in 2018 by the controversial director Lars von Trier. Matt managed to try himself in the director's chair: in 2002 he released the full-length film "Ghost Town".
Personal life
Matt Dillon has never been officially married, although he is credited with numerous novels with actresses of the first magnitude. The most famous and long-lasting was the relationship with Cameron Diaz, which lasted from 1996 to 1998. They met on the set and became an inseparable couple, but still did not dare to become a husband and wife.
The actor has repeatedly been recognized as one of the sex symbols of Hollywood, which he periodically reminds fans of on his Instagram account, posting photos from his youth in it. In 2018, Matt started filming for the international film project “Proxima”, which is being filmed in Russia. The premiere is scheduled for summer 2019.
