The boy had a rather difficult childhood. He was born in May 1905 in the United States, but was abandoned by his parents. Therefore, the child was forced to wander among foster families, to live in boarding schools.

After receiving his education, John Patrick went to work in the radio.

When the young man was 20 years old, he started a family. Mildred Lidzey became his wife.

In general, this year 1925 turned out to be very successful for a creatively gifted young man. At the same time, he created several hundred scenarios for the radio.

The first play by the young playwright was "Hell Freezes". In 1935, this thing is staged on Broadway. That's how they found out about John Patrick in Hollywood.

The second piece made him even more famous. It was a play called Willow and Me. Famous actors were employed here - Gregory Peck, Martha Scott.

The production was published in 1942 - during the Second World War. Then Patrick decides to volunteer for the front. In the field service, he provides medical services.

The idea for the next play by the playwright was born here. The writer called it Hasty Hearts. Later, in 1949, a movie was made on this plot, and the main role in this film was played by the future President of the United States, Ronald Reagan.

Then Patrick wrote two more plays that were not as popular as the previous ones. However, later, when the work "Strange Mrs. Savage" was translated into Russian, the performance staged in the USSR was a great success. But here this was also facilitated by the brilliant actors who played in this production. At various times, this performance was attended by: Lyubov Orlova, Vera Maretskaya, Lyudmila Kasatkina, Irina Lyakhova, Vera Vasilyeva, Liya Akhedzhakova.

And Patrick John's play "Tea Ceremony" brought him not only fame, but also an award.

Then the famous screenwriter created several more works. He was able to amass enough fortune to buy himself a piece of land in New York. The playwright worked in the US Virgin Islands.

When he was 90 years old, the news of the venerable old man's suicide shocked America. The famous playwright passed away in November 1995.

But his work remained. In addition to plays, which are successfully performed all over the world, there are manuscripts, letters from the scriptwriter, which are stored at Boston University.
