Patrick Chan, full name - Patrick Lewis Wai-Kuan Chan, skater was born on December 31, 1990 in Canada, namely in the city of Ottawa.
Childhood and early career
Chan's parents were ordinary people who immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong. Patrick's parents signed up for ice skating lessons when he was five years old, expecting him to take up ice hockey. Chan, however, was immediately drawn to figure skating and showed great promise in the sport in his early teens.
Under the guidance of renowned trainer, Osborne Colson, Chan has won national titles at the Novice (2003), Novice (2004) and Junior (2005) levels.
Since the death of Osborne Coulson in 2006, Chan has been trained by various trainers, including Don Lawes and Christy Krall. In 2007, Patrick ended his youth career with a silver medal at the Junior World Championships, and for the first time in 23 years a Canadian figure skater won a medal in this sport.
Professional career
On a professional level, Chan continued to shine, in 2008 Patrick was able to win the Canadian Championship. The following year, the young figure skater won his first victory in a major international tournament, winning gold at the Four Continents tournament, and two months later the figure skater won silver at the World Championship.
