Patrick Laine is a young Finnish ice hockey player playing as a winger. He is one of the most talented Scandinavian players of the generation. Despite his young age, he has already made a name for himself in the world hockey arena.
Patrick Liine is a native of the Finnish city of Tampere. Born April 19, 1998. As you know, in Finland, many boys dream of becoming honored hockey players, since the country has all the conditions for comfortable career growth. From a young age, having fallen in love with hockey, Patrick began to play this sport at a local hockey school. In his own words, in the courtyard of his home there was a small skating rink on which a young hockey player, in between training sessions, honed his throws on cans.
Laine is currently a striker, but until the age of 12 he held a goal at the local children's hockey team. It was only thanks to the father's part that the boy changed his role, which made a significant contribution to the achievement of such significant results in the future.
Ice hockey career in Finland
Laine's biography in adult hockey dates back to September 2014, when Patrick made his debut in the main squad of the Finnish club "Tappara". At that time, the player was only 16 years old. In the first season, the striker played only 6 matches in the base, in which he scored one assists. Laine spent most of his debut season at the LeKe club, which played in the second division of the Finnish Championship.
The second season in adult hockey for the striker was much brighter. In 2015, Laine returned to Tappara, for which he spent 46 matches in the regular season and scored seventeen goals and sixteen assists. Laine helped his club to the playoffs, where he became the best sniper (10 goals) and helped his team win the title of champion of Finland 2015 - 2016.
Laine will receive further hockey education overseas, because from the 2016-2017 season he will be admitted to the Canadian club from the NHL "Winnipeg Jets".
Patrick Laine's performances for the Finnish national team
Hard work on the hockey rink, combined with outstanding talent, allowed Laina to make her way to the national team for the 2015 World Junior Championships in 2015. At the championship of the planet, the striker became the best sniper, hitting the opponent's goal 8 times.
The famous New Year's tournament of the 2016 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship brought real world fame to Laine. The hockey player shone in the first line along with other bright talents - Aho and Puglijärvi. The Finnish national team won that MFM, and Laine scored seven goals, adding six assists to them.
In the adult national team, Laine made his debut in 2016 at the Eurotour stage. And already in May of this year, he played at the adult championship of the planet, where he managed to get the title of MVP of the championship, and his team reached silver medals, losing only to the national team of Canada in the final.
The most serious tournament for the national team player was the 2016 Ice Hockey World Cup, which was held in Canada. However, in the championship, neither the national team, nor Laine himself won any success.
NHL career
The hockey creativity of such a young player quickly attracted the attention of overseas sports agents. In 2016, Laine moved to the Winnipeg Jets club, where he still plays.
In his first season in the NHL, Laine had an outstanding record with 36 goals in 73 games. In addition, the striker gave 28 assists. Already in the next season, Patrick set a personal performance record: 70 points in 82 games (44 + 26). Unsurprisingly, the young talent was invited in January 2017 to the All-Star Game of the world's best hockey league.
In the 2018-2019 season, Laine very quickly gained shape, was recognized as the best sniper in November, but then slowed down. However, this did not prevent the player from conquering the mark of 30 goals in a season again.
Patrick's entire personal life is built mostly around hockey, but there is information that the player has a couple. Laine's girl's name is Sanna, she moved with her boyfriend to Canada from Finland.
Patrick Laine is still very young, but already now many experts predict a great hockey future for him at the level of real world stars.
