Biography
Vasily Makarovich Shukshin was born in Altai, in the village of Srostki, which is located near the city of Biysk. His parents were peasants and were considered middle peasants. During collectivization, the family joined the collective farm, Vasily Makarovich's father worked as a machine operator. But in 1933 he was arrested. The mother, left without a breadwinner and with two children in her arms, had to remarry. But soon the war began, the stepfather was called to the front, and a year later the family received a funeral.
In 1945, Shukshin entered the technical school, but studied there for only 2 courses. He had to feed his family and he had to return to the collective farm. He got a job as a rigging mechanic in a trust and was sent to Kaluga to a turbine plant, and then to Vladimir at a tractor manufacturing plant. In 1949, Vasily was drafted into the army, and his service took place in the Black Sea Fleet. During this period, his first stories appeared.
Returning home, Shukshin passed the exams to obtain a certificate of maturity and began to teach Russian literature in his native school, and later worked for some time as the director of a school for working youth. But Vasily Makarovich did not consider teaching his life's work and went to Moscow. In the capital, Shukshin applied to the screenwriting department of VGIK, but entered the directing department. Personal life
Shukshin met his first wife Maria Shumskaya in his native village. She worked as a teacher at a local school. In 1955, they got married, but the young wife refused to go to conquer the capital. In 1957, Shukshin asked for a divorce, as he fell in love with another, but Maria refused him, so forever she remained the only official wife of the director.
Shukshin's next wife was Victoria Sofronova, who gave Vasily Makarovich a daughter, Katya. But soon he began an affair with the artist Lydia Chashchina, from whom he went to Lydia Fedoseeva. The actress gave birth to two daughters in this marriage - Maria and Olga.
