Jacob Benjamin Gyllenhaal was born in 1980 in the heart of the American film industry - Los Angeles. His entire family is associated with cinema. Stephen Gyllenhaal, his father, has co-directed popular series such as Twin Peaks and The Mentalist. Naomi Foner's mother writes scripts for films, and her best works are Idle (1988) and Wordplay (2005).
The elder sister of the actor is Margalit Ruth (better known as Maggie). She is a successful actress, Academy Award winner and Golden Globe winner. Brother and sister starred together in the film "Donnie Darko".
The parents of the two actors, being very wealthy people, always taught their children to value every dollar they earn.
