Mineral resources are not unlimited and must be used with care. The protection of minerals and subsoil is regulated by the Federal Law "On Subsoil" and includes their rational use, prevention of depletion and pollution of natural resources.

Step 1
To protect the subsoil, observe the procedure for their use established by law. So, before using the subsoil, carry out a full geological study for a reliable assessment of the minerals and properties of the subsoil site, which is provided for purposes not related to the extraction of minerals.
Step 2
Also take care of the extraction of minerals and their reliable accounting, as well as the protection of deposits from floods, fires and other factors that can reduce the quality and industrial value of minerals. Prevent subsoil pollution by carrying out work related to subsoil use, as well as prevent the accumulation of industrial and domestic waste in places where groundwater occurs and in catchment areas.
Step 3
Please note that a subsoil plot with minerals is provided mainly for their development. It is possible to talk about the design and construction of settlements and industrial complexes only after receiving the conclusion of the relevant authorities about the absence of minerals at the site of the upcoming development.
Step 4
Note that deposits with minerals are subject to state accounting, examination and registration. For example, Russia maintains a state cadastre of deposits and occurrences of minerals, as well as a state balance of mineral reserves. The state cadastre includes all data on each mineral deposit, and to account for the state of the country's mineral resource base, there is a state balance sheet, where information is recorded on the quantity and quality of mineral reserves, their production, development, losses, and the provision of industry with mineral reserves.
Step 5
State expertise is carried out in order to create conditions for the rational integrated use of subsoil, marking the boundaries of subsoil plots, payments for their use, etc. During the expertise, not only mineral reserves are assessed, but also geological information about subsoil plots suitable for the construction of structures, not related to mining.
