The high jumper was born on November 8, 1983 in a sports family. Parents lived in the city of Split. The husband and wife went in for sports professionally. The mother is a well-known skier in Europe. Repeatedly won prizes at the Croatian championships. Played basketball well.

Father, at one time, was thoroughly engaged in decathlon. The year his eldest daughter was born, he won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games. The competition was held in the iconic city of Casablanca, which is located on the Atlantic coast in Morocco. On the occasion of the victory, the daughter received the name Blanca. In order to prevent further miscalculations in important competitions, the athlete and coaches changed the training system. Vlašić began to devote more time to practicing the technical elements of the jump. She had to repeatedly watch video recordings of the jumps of the leading world-class athletes. And then hone certain movements to automatism.

Blanca's sports career was successful. The results of the new approach were immediate. In 2001, Vlašić won first place at the Mediterranean Games in Tunisia. Two seasons later, she finished third at the World Indoor Championships. In 2007, an athlete from Croatia took first place at the World Championships in the Japanese city of Osaka. At the 2008 Olympics in China, Blanke won a silver medal. Although all experts predicted gold for her, she was at the peak of her athletic form.

Injuries and side effects

By that time, the general level of training of female athletes in the world had improved markedly. Competition has intensified. Several years ago, in 2005, Vlašić suffered from an overactive thyroid syndrome. She had to recover for almost the entire year. Extreme psychological and physical stress became the cause of the disease. Once again, the coaches and the athlete laid out an updated system of training, restorative procedures and balanced nutrition.

At the end of 2011, Blanca injured her left leg. The athlete had to undergo two operations to eliminate the rupture of the ankle ligaments. Due to this injury, Vlašić was unable to attend the 2012 Olympics in London. Practice shows that such damage affects the physical condition of the athlete. Moreover, if she is engaged in high jumps. In the summer of 2016, the Croatian jumper gathered strength and won a bronze medal at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
