"Green weekend" is an all-Russian action, which is regularly held by activists of Greenpeace Russia and simply not indifferent people. Its motto is the words understandable for every Russian: "Help nature with deed."
The geography of the action has long gone beyond the framework of St. Petersburg and Moscow and is constantly expanding. Not only regional centers, but also small villages participate in the "Green Weekende". In the spring of 2012, about 60 environmental weekends took place across the country.
As a rule, the action takes place from April 1 to May 20, and everyone can take part in it. To do this, you need to collect the waste separately (glass, plastic, waste paper, batteries) and deliver it to the collection point. In addition, everyone can try their hand at organizing the cleaning of any forest park in their city or village. To become a participant of the weekend and, moreover, its organizer, you must register on the official website of the action.
It is a mistake to think that garbage collection is too dull and uninteresting. In Moscow, for example, about a thousand people came to the final weekend, for whom master classes, eco-fairs, a children's playground, as well as an educational lecture hall and gifts were organized. Of course, on the territory of other cities "Green Weekend" is taking place on a much smaller scale, but with the same enthusiasm.
Almost everyone knows that natural resources are not unlimited. But not every person is ready to admit that even his small effort can be important. For example, one used battery poisons 1 sq.m. earth, and from an open tap only during daily brushing of teeth about 15-20 liters of water is wasted.
The goal of the Green Weekend is to encourage everyone to change their way of life for the sake of preserving nature. The Greenpeace Russia project recommends taking note of a number of simple recommendations. Among them - not only an invitation to participate in the Green Weekend action, but also requests not to throw away batteries, turn off computers and electrical appliances at night, use energy-saving lamps, install meters, hand over waste paper, plant a tree and walk more often.
