In the world of cinema, it has recently become fashionable to shoot all kinds of sequels, remakes, prequels of various films. The film "The Expendables", the sequel of which was released in 2012, was no exception in this sense. Now a remake of the film is being prepared, consisting exclusively of female lead roles.
Producer Adi Shankar, who worked with the famous film "Skirmish" and is involved in the production of the films "Casino Robbery" and "Judge Dredd 3D", is going to shoot a new version of "The Expendables". In this film, it is planned to collect important action stars among women on one screen.
Dutch Southern will be the scriptwriter of the film. It is known that Shankar's Private Defense Contractors have already begun contracting with several actresses. The specific names of the stars have not yet been announced.
Western analysts are already solving this puzzle, making their assumptions about the composition of such an ensemble. Angelina Jolie, Sigourney Weaver, Uma Thurman, Carrie Fisher, Linda Hamilton, Kate Beckinsale, Michelle Rodriguez, Milla Jovovich - there are plenty of potential candidates.
The film "The Expendables" appeared at the box office in the summer of 2010. Dolph Lundgren, Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham and others starred. Stallone was also the director of the picture. On August 16, 2012 the release of the second part of "The Expendables" (distributor - UPI company) took place. It featured such stars as Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris, as well as Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who played cameo roles in the original film. The latter in the sequel embody more important characters than in the first picture.
It is not known what inspired the creators of the new "Expendables" for the female version of the film. Perhaps, a certain role was played by the fact that in the sequel one of the central characters was the woman - the codebreaker Maggie, played by the Chinese actress Nan Yu. By the way, critics rated the continuation of "The Expendables" higher than the first film, according to the results of the debut weekend, the picture earned almost $ 29 million.
