Oona Castilla Chaplin, better known as Oona Chaplin (born June 4, 1986 in Madrid), is a Spanish actress, granddaughter of the great Charlie Chaplin, daughter of British-American film actress Geraldine Chaplin and Chilean director Patricio Castilla.
Una Chaplin was born in sunny Spain. The girl's childhood was spent on the road, her family often moved from place to place. Una managed to live for some time both on the continent (in England, Scotland and Spain) and in Cuba. As a teenager, her parents sent her to a dance school, where she studied salsa and flamenco. At the age of 15, Chaplin entered the Gordonstone School - the same one where Prince Charles of Wales himself studied. It was a significant period for the future actress: over the years of her studies, she took part in several theatrical performances of the school and went on tour.
Una graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2007. Among the graduates of the academy are such eminent actors as Alan Rickman and Anthony Hopkins.
In the same year, she began her acting career - the girl got a small role in the British television series Spooks. And in 2008, three full-length films with the participation of Una were released at once: "Unthinkable", "Quantum of Solace" and "Ghosts: Code 9".
In 2009, Chaplin got the main role in the art-house horror film "Image of Death" by Stefano Bessoni. In 2011, BBC Two released The Hour, in which Oona played the wife of news anchor Hector, Marnie Madden. Since then, the actress has been increasingly invited to major television projects.
In 2011, at the prestigious Sundance International Film Festival, the Devil's Double (the adaptation of Latif Yahia's autobiographical novel) with Una in episodes premiered. The co-production drama of Belgium and the Netherlands tells the story of Latif Yahia - a simple guy, like two drops of water similar to Uday Hussein, the son of Iraqi ruler Saddam Hussein. Once Latif was forced into the palace and forced to play the role of a double …
Breakthrough and work in television
A new stage in Chaplin's career came in 2012, when Chaplin appeared in an episode of Sherlock opposite Benedict Cumberbatch. In August 2013, the role of the actress was added to the romantic comedy "Friendship and No Sex?" Michael Daws with Daniel Radcliffe. In 2014, the thriller Pau Teixidor "Purgatory" was released. In it, Una got the main role.
But the real fame was brought to her by the role in the cult television series "Game of Thrones". The girl joined the caste in the second season as a guest star. In 2014, she was even nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role as Talisa Stark - wife of Robb Stark - in the category "Best Cast in a Drama Series." It is noteworthy that the actress is a big fan of A Song of Ice and Fire and was supposed to play the role of Jane Westerling. During production, the script was rewritten and the character was cut, instead of Talisa Meigir appeared, which was not in the books at all.
In 2014, Oona also appeared in an episode of the 3rd season of the acclaimed TV series "Black Mirror". The girl appeared in the Christmas special and played the role of the rich and spoiled Greta, whose consciousness was copied and placed on a special digital device. While the real Greta lived in the "smart home", her clone consciousness was in a simulated white space, where there is nothing but a control panel.
In 2017, another British production was released with Oona Chaplin and Tom Hardy in the lead roles - the drama Taboo. The plot of the adventure drama takes place in London at the beginning of the 19th century. Una plays the role of the main character's sister, the cynical and calculating Zilfa Giri. The series was a success and was renewed for a second season.
Critics also noted the performance of Chaplin in the romantic comedy "The Earth Under Feet (also called" Anchor and Hope ") by Carlos Marquez-Marcet, also released in 2017. Chaplin played alongside another Game of Thrones star Natalia Tena.
Full-length tapes
Chaplin's last major work is the biopic My Dinner with Hervé by Sasha Gervasi, starring another Game of Thrones star, Peter Dinklage. According to the plot, reporter Danny Tate has to take a short interview with the "bionic dwarf" and controversial TV star Herve Vileshesz, who lives in Los Angeles.
In addition to feature films, Oona Chaplin also starred in documentaries. So, at the end of 2017, the film Tuwün, directed by Rolando Carileo, was released on the big screens, telling about different people trying to find out their past.
At the beginning of 2019, it is known that Oona Chaplin will appear in the sequel to the acclaimed "Avatar" by James Cameron in one of the main roles. Viewers have been waiting for the continuation of the blockbuster since 2009, and now, finally, the release dates of all sequels at once have become known:

Una will be involved in each of them. The name of her heroine is known - Warang. She is described as a flamboyant and powerful character that is central to the entire saga. At the same time, the creators keep the details of the project in the strictest confidence.
Personal life
Oona Chaplin has never been single, has no children and does not cover her personal life. She manages to keep everything in the strictest confidence, the press knows practically nothing about her personal relationships, with whom she meets, etc. In an interview, the famous actress said that she spends a lot of time with men and “falls in love every day,” but she never really met anyone.
The paparazzi never managed to get any compromising material about Una, she did not even give rise to rumors. It is safe to say that she had no romantic ties with any of the stars of show business. However, the girl cannot be called a recluse either: she leads an active social life, regularly updates her profile on Instagram, shines on the carpet in sophisticated outfits and regularly pleases fans with photo sessions in fashion magazines. Chaplin calls Jane Birkin his style icon.
