From the biography of Dmitry Pavlovich Mikhalchenko

The future Russian entrepreneur was born in Leningrad on April 20, 1972. Dmitry received his education at the Marine Instrument Engineering College (St. Petersburg). Then he moved to Velikiye Luki. He worked at a meat processing plant, grew up to the post of commercial director of this enterprise.

Soon Mikhalchenko left for Ukraine, where he participated in the opening of a company from a meat processing plant. As a co-owner of the plant, he then sold his share in the business to the entrepreneur Vladimir Podvalny.

Career growth

In the late 90s Mikhalchenko became a supplier of equipment for the Oktyabrskaya Railway. Then he headed the non-profit organization in charge of the affairs of the regional fund of the FSB management programs in St. Petersburg. One of the activities of this ANO is the reconstruction of landside areas. Mikhalchenko himself denies that he ever served in the state of security forces.

In 2001, Dmitry Mikhalchenko founded the famous "Forum" holding, which after a decade and a half became one of the largest in St. Petersburg. This business structure includes several dozen enterprises, including: the association of enterprises "Magistral", the port "Bronka", "Baltstroy", the legal agency "Forum".

The project of creating a multifunctional seaport "Bronka" in the northern capital was launched in 2008. Mikhalchenko became one of the main investors in the project, the total cost of which was estimated at 58.9 billion rubles. Within the framework of the project, it was planned to build container and rolling-type terminals. In the fall of 2015, Mikhalchenko reported on the completion of the construction of the first stage of the deep-water port. For this work, the project manager was recognized as one of the best top managers in the city on the Neva.

End of career

In March 2016, billionaire Mikhalchenko was arrested as part of an investigation into the smuggling of alcoholic beverages. The case was initiated by the FSB. At the same time, a number of officials from the Forum holding controlled by Mikhalchenko were detained.

Experts believe that the story of the smuggling carried out by an organized group is just a pretext for the arrest of the businessman. Before Mikhalchenko was detained, FSB officers searched his house on another matter: it was about the theft of about 200 million rubles intended for the restoration of a fortress in the Pskov region.

In the summer of 2018, Dmitry Pavlovich was charged with another charge. This time Mikhalchenko was considered the organizer of a criminal community. At the end of December 2018, the court sentenced the billionaire to 4 years and seven months in a general regime colony. The prosecution requested ten years of strict regime for the defendant.
