The first and so far the only museum of contemporary calligraphy in the world is located in Moscow. Its collections include unique examples of writing, created by recognized masters from different countries, and rare handwritten editions.

The Calligraphy Museum began its work in 2008. Its opening was initiated by the National Union of Calligraphers, the International Exhibition Company and the Sokolniki Moscow Exhibition and Convention Center, on the territory of which this museum is located.

It is dedicated to the art of writing and presents the best examples of calligraphy from all over the world. The museum exposition is based on more than 100 works by recognized masters of beautiful writing from 40 countries. Here you can find paintings by calligraphers from Russia, Germany, USA, Ukraine, Belarus, Israel, France, Syria, China, Japan and other countries.

Among the presented exhibits you can see unique examples of writing from various cultures - Slavic, Jewish, Arab and European. You can get acquainted with strict Japanese writing and ancient Chinese calligraphy. All of them reveal the history of the emergence of this technique.

Also in the museum you can see domestic and foreign books on the art of beautiful writing, writing materials of past and present years, as well as rare handwritten editions, issued in a single copy. Among them is the first and only handwritten Constitution of our country.

All collections in the museum are formed taking into account the peculiarities of visual perception. International exhibitions, which are annually organized by the Museum of Calligraphy, are becoming more and more popular, gathering thousands of connoisseurs of this art.

Visitors to this unique place can not only look at the exhibition samples, but also take part in master classes by recognized virtuosos of beautiful writing from around the world. The museum carries out its activities in close cooperation with designers, musicians and artists, so its exhibitions are always interesting and unusual.
