The vampire theme has become very popular in modern popular culture. Books are being written, television series are being shot, old stories are being filmed. Against this backdrop, the "Twilight" film series stands out for its commercial success. What is the plot of these films?
The Twilight films were based on the books of American writer Stephenie Meyer. They are addressed primarily to a young audience, but fans of the saga are found among people of all ages. Like many other authors of science fiction and mystical novels, Stephanie Meyer actually created her own "universe" with a specific interpretation of the image of a vampire. She abandoned many of the traditional ideas that were characteristic of the legends about bloodsuckers. Vampires in the novel and in films do not burn in the sun, are not afraid of garlic and crucifixion, and may not even drink human blood. These assumptions were made in order to create the image of a "good vampire", which corresponds to the main character of the saga - Edward Cullen. The adaptation of the books was made quite close to the original. The structure of dividing the narrative into parts has also been preserved. The director made an exception only for the last, fourth book - two films were made based on it, which divided the plot in half. The main action of the film takes place in the small American town of Forks in Washington state. The main character Bella Swan comes to her father there. She begins her studies at a local school, where she meets a mysterious classmate - Edward Cullen. The plot of the first film is built around their acquaintance and the emergence of mutual sympathy. In the end, despite the fact that Bella learns that her boyfriend is a vampire and almost dies at the hands of another modern-day Dracula, she remains true to her feelings for Edward. The second film, called Twilight. Saga. New Moon”is also dedicated to the relationship of the above-named couple. They manage to overcome the misunderstanding and get close again, but it becomes clear that Bella will not be able to remain human within the framework of this union. In the third part of the saga, "Eclipse", the imminent war of vampires becomes the center of the story. The clan, to which Edward Cullen belongs, manages to defend its superiority in the territory of residence and save Bella from the revenge of other vampires - those who still drink human blood. By the end of 2011, only the first part of the movie Breaking Dawn was released. As part of this film, the director presented part of the plot dedicated to the wedding of Cullen and Bella, as well as the birth of their common child. This plot twist was quite unexpected, since in previous books and films vampires were presented as creatures that cannot reproduce sexually. Based on the end of the fourth book of the saga, you can be sure that the second part of the fourth film will be devoted to Bella's life already as a vampire converted at the time of the birth of a child, as well as a new impending war among mystical creatures.
