The beginning of the war period for young people in Russia is 18 years old, guys who have reached this age are called up for urgent military service. However, before being sent to a particular branch of the army, conscripts go through a military commission, which determines how fit a soldier is.
When conscripting for military service, a number of activities are carried out, one of which is passing a medical examination. It is on it that the commission of medical specialists determines the so-called "degree of fitness" for service. Depending on what opinion the doctors make, the young man will either be drafted or declared unfit for military service.
Service fitness categories
There are 5 categories of "suitability" of the conscript. Category A is good. This is an absolute match, young people who have been found fit are drafted into the army.
Category B is acceptable, but there are minor restrictions. As in the previous category, such guys are called up for military service, but in those types of troops where there is less intense physical activity.
B - of limited use. Those who fall into this category are not called up for service - they are issued a military ID, while young people are enrolled in the reserve.
D - temporarily unfit for military service (usually a recruit is given a deferral of 6 months to 1 year). This category is assigned to those who, at the time of the commission, are sick, are being treated in a hospital or are undergoing rehabilitation after an illness or injury.
Category D is not suitable, it is not subject to conscription (a military card is issued, and the conscript is released from service).
Some features of assigning a category of validity
As background information, it should be said about the following: those young people who are looking for legal grounds in order to avoid military service should be borne in mind that only 2 of the above categories will allow them to be released from military duty without the negative consequences described in the article 328 of the Criminal Code. This is category D and B.
In addition, it should be said that those conscripts, in respect of whom the medical commission issued an opinion - "of limited suitability", are not subject to re-examination. Persons who have received this category are issued a so-called "white ticket". In fact, the document, of course, is of a single sample, that is, its color and appearance are absolutely the same as that of the certificate that confirms fitness for military service. However, it is the “white ticket” that avoids the actual conscription, while it must be understood that in the event of mobilization or military exercises, category B young people are obliged to come to the assembly point and go to their destination.
The list of diseases according to which a particular category is assigned can be found in a special document called the "Schedule of Diseases". The list is quite extensive, for each specific disease, doctors determine the degree and only after that a verdict is issued.
